Call to Order The meeting was calledto order at 7:32 p.m. II. Roll Call Commissioners present: Ceppos, Grantham, Martini, Peacock, Sessler, Towse Commissioner absent: Skow III. Report on Posting of Commission Agenda The agenda was posted on April 21, 1994 IV. Approval of Minutes of March 23, 199{, Meeting The minutes were approved as submitted. V. Old Business Update on Formationof County Library Service Ar~a and Results of Countywide Survey Staff Carolyn King and Deputy County Librarian Janice Yee reported on the results of the survey and action taken by the task force to set the assess- ment amount at $33 per parcel. This would provide approximately 51 open hours for the Saratoga Library and a book budget of $204,000. 66% of those surveyed responded positively regarding the proposed assessment. The City Council took action April 20 to join the service area. There was discussion of the status of Monte Sereno and Los Gatos, which is still uncertain. Yee outlined the timeline for the campaign. There is a June 4 meeting for Library Commissioners for discussion of the campaign. New Business Election of Officgra. for 1994 Chair Sally Towse called for nominations for Chair and Vice Chair. Towse was nominated for another term as Chair, and elected unanimously. Vice Chair Karen Ceppos was nominated for another term, and was also elected unanimously. VII. Reports Janice Yee, Deputy County Librarian Deputy County Librarian Yee reported that the library had received a $55,000 grant from the state for Internet equipment and training. Some staff and members of the Friends of the Library will be trained initially, and then these people will in turn train docents to assist library patrons. Dolly Barnes~ Comm~ity Librarian Comm%/nity Librarian Dolly Barnes reported that three used HP computers and printers are being donated to the library and will be hooked up to the local area network. In order to make space, they will probably get rid of the library's record collection. Carolyn King, City Staff Representative Staff King reported that the City Council and the Finance Advisory Committee would be reviewing the City'$ 94/95 budget at a meeting on May 10. Sally Towse. Chair Chair Towse distributed invitations to the Commissioners for the May 5 reception for prospective Board members of the Library Foundation. VIII.
