Callto Order Meeting called to order at 7:30 p.m. II. Roll Call Commissioners Present: Foscato, Gipstein, O'Donnell, Sessler, Towse Commissioners Excused: Manzo III. Report on Posting of the Agenda Pursuant to Government Code 54954.2, the agenda was properly posted on 5/19/99. IV. Approval of Minutes of April 28, 1999 Commissioner Foscato moved to approve the minutes of April 28, 1999. Commissioner Gipstein seconded the motion and it passed 4/0. V. Old Business a. Library Optimization Update - D. Barnes · Reports from Lighting and Acoustics not received to date. b. Landscaping Update - L. Burns · Hardscaping repairs are on consultant's schedule to be completed before special event on June 25, 1999. · Parks Dept. will make every effort to spruce up landscape for special event. c. Internet Access Update -E Sessler CAC instructed its members to poll Commissioners and report back re: Filter installation. Saratoga Community Library reports no incidents or problems. JPA will review Internet Access/Filters on June 3, 1999, at the Quilin Center at 1:30 p.m. VI. Reports a. Susan Fuller, Count5' Librarian · JPA Meeting - June 3, 1999. - Budget Approval 1. Will include reclassification of 7 positions from on call to regular. 2. Revenues are tight. Use continues to rise. Service levels will be maintained. - CAC By Laws will contimle to call for 4 meetings per year but 2 of those meetings will be optional. - San Jose and Alum Rock will present plans for a new library. · Library Bond SB 3 on target for the Nov. 2000 ballot. b. Dolly Barnes, Communi~' Librarian Steering Committee is moving forward re: hiring a campaign consultant. · Councilmember Streit will be discussing a proposal at the June 8, 1999, Council meeting that may impact the Library. · Library may close early for special event on June 26, 1999. · Children's Summer Reading Program material was distributed. c. Marcia Manzo, Library Commission Chair and Library 2000 No Report. d. Lori Burns, CiW Staff Representative · Pins distributed to Commissioners. · Sketch depicting outdoor power sources distributed. · City's generator not available for special event as it must be available for emergencies. e. Jim Givens, Friends of the Saratoga Libraries · Three public opinion pollsters being interviewed. · Contract to retain Campaign Consultant will be completed by May 28, 1999. · Several Library Expansion supporters attended the Fire District Meeting to pick up "pointers" on floating a successful bond. f. Sally Towse, Library Foundation · Raising the RoofUpdate - 800 invitations mailed. - 30 tickets sold. - $300 in donations received. - $15,500 in treasury for event. VII. Oral and Written Communication VIII. Adjournment Commissioner Towse made a motion to adjourn the meeting and Commissioner Gipstein seconded the motion.
