Call to Order The meeting was called to order at 7:35 p.m. II. Roll Call Commissioners present: Ceppos, Grantham, Peacock, Sessler, Skow, Martini Commissioner absent: Towse Report on Posting of ¢o~mission Agenda The agenda was posted on September 21, 1994 IV. Approval of Minutes of July 27, 1994, Meeting Commissioner Peacock made a motion to adopt the minutes of July 27, Commissioner Sessler seconded the motion. The Minutes were approved as written. V. O~d Business A. Foundation commissioner ceppos reported that the paperwork necessary to acquire tax exemption status for the foundation had been sent to the state. B. Status Update-Measure A County Librarian Fuller reported that as of September 20, 1994, $33,000 had been raised for the Measure A campaign. Councilmembers Jacobs and Burger have been busy raising money for the campaign and Councilmember Moran is focusing on getting endorsements for Measure A. Commissioner Grantham volunteered to chair the "Freeway Committee". He will check the availability of a booth or table with the Chamber of Commerce in order to pass out Measure A materials at the opening of Route 85. Towards the end of October, there will be T.V. spots on local Networks promoting Measure A. It was shared that the Friends of the Library were hesitant to endorse Measure A in fear of losing their not-for-profit status. The Friends of the Library had asked that they be provided with a non-advocacy flyer that be done in a question & answer format. A special meeting had been scheduled for the 8th to discuss phone banking. Some 1,200 calls needed to be made the last few days before~he election in order to remind voters. Someone would be needed to coordinate these calling sessions. Barbecue tickets are available for sale. All proceeds will go to the Measure A campaign. The barbecue will be held on Tuesday, October 4th at Blackburry Park in Cupertino. Commissioners were asked to turn in the tickets that they had sold to Irene Jacobs at City Hall by Monday, October 3. VI New ~usi~e$s A. Development of Mod~ for Library Services at $33 Assessment Level Community Librarian Dolly Barnes reported that with the 60 hour scenario the library would be able to retrieve ~services that are currently provided. The book f~nding level would be $230,000. Ms. Barnes reported that the Library had not had 60 hours to work with since 1972. VII. Reports Susan Fuller, County Librarian County Librarian Fuller reported on the progress of the Measure A Campaign and its various endorsements. Ms. Fuller also provided the Commission with a Final Fact Sheet for 1993-94 with information on Santa Clara County Libraries. Dolly B~rnes. Community Librarian community Librarian Dolly Barnes reported that the summer reading program had finished and that Mayor Burger was at hand to pass out certificates to participants. Ms. Barnes also reported that the Friends of the Library had given the Library a new self checkSout machine. Carolyn King. City Staff Representativ~ Staff member, Carolyn King reminded Commissioners of the forms sent to them regarding the release of information to the Public of their address and telephone numbers.
