Ca%l to 0rd~r The meeting was called to order at 7:40 p.m. Roll Call Commissioners present: Ceppos, Grantham, Peacock, Sessler, Skow, Towse Commissioner absent: Martini III. Report on Posting of ~om~issio~ Aqenda Pursuant to Government Code 54954.2, the agenda was properly posted on October 21, 1994. IV. Approval of Minutes of September 28~ 1994~ Meeting The Minutes were approved as written. V. Old Business A. Foundation Commissioner Ceppos reported that the board is proceeding with the steps necessary to acquire tax exemption status for the foundation. The board has decided to wait until after the election before they decide what their next step will be. B. Status Update-Measur~ A County Librarian Fuller reported that the campaign had raised a total of $75,000 with the last $10,000 having come from the Route 85 celebrations. The money raised from this last event paid for a second mailing. If there are sufficient funds remaining then advertisements will be placed in local newspapers. Librarian Fuller shared with Commissioners that at the Phone Bank recently held in Cupertino, volunteers reported very few citizens who had any negative comments to share regarding Measure A. The barbecue that was held tonight as a fund raiser for Measure A was a great success raising a little over $2,000. VI. New Bu$iDess A. SQh~dul~NQyember/December Meeting The next meeting was scheduled for Wednesday, December 7, 1994 at the Saratoga Book-Go-Round at 7:30 p.m. The November and December meetings were rescheduled in order to observe the Holidays. B. Saratoga Community Librarian, Dolly Barnes reported that the Library will be connected to the Internet System and that it will be available to the public through the Library terminals. Ms. Barnes plans to have staff and community members receive training on how to use the system in January or February. These individuals will in turn be able to train the public. Although there is no specific date set, Ms. Barnes would like to schedule a public meeting and invite interested members from the community to discuss Internet. Librarian Barnes expressed her desire to have the Library Commission and the Friends of the Library assist with the Public Meeting. VII. Reports Susa~ F~ller, County Librarian County Librarian Fuller reported that the Board had set dates for a public hearings in order to discuss the benefit assessment. The first meeting has been scheduled for Dece~aber 6, 1994 and the second meeting has been scheduled for December 13, 1994. Both meetings will take place at 10:00 a.m. in the Board Chambers. Dolly Barnes, Community Librarian Community Librarian Dolly Barnes reported that she had recently been a guest speaker at the Senior Center where she had given a presentation on three new books that had been received by the Library. Irene M. Jacobs, City Staff Representative Staff member, Irene M. Jacobs reminded Commissioners to complete the forms they had received regarding the release of information to the Public of their address and telephone numbers. Sally Towse~ Ch~i~ None VIII.
