Vice-Chairman Ward called the meeting to order.
I. ORGANIZATION
A. ROLL CALL
Present: Commissioners Clemens, Pakula, Saunders, Ward.
Absent: Franklin, Pierce, Vallone.
Others Present: Dan Trinidad, Roy Swanson, Sharon Trejo,
Joan Pisani.
B. MINUTES
Minutes of the January 12, 1987 meeting approved as read.
II. OLD BUSINESS
A. UPDATE - DOGS IN PARKS
Commissioners read a draft of a memo to Council in which
we asked Council to ban dogs from Saratoga's parks.
After a brief discussion, Commission agreed that the memo
adequately conveys the feelings of this Commission and
of the citizens who were concerned enough to attend the
public hearing. The Commission was asked to attend the
February 14th City Council Meeting to show support of the
recommendation.
B. REVIEW OF CDBG FUNDING PROPOSALS
Dan reported that the Commission's suggestions for a
bridge across Wildwood Creek from the parking lot to
Wildwood Park and the group picnic area at E1 Quito Park
have been selected as possible projects to be funded by
CDGB. The cost of the bridge project is estimated to be
approximately $40,000 and the picnic area at E1 Quito
Park $15,000.
III. NEW BUSINESS
A. COMMUNITY PARKLANDS ACT OF 1986
We have submitted our application for $80,000 to complete
E1 Quito Park. Senator Becky Morgan will write a
supporting letter to the State Parks and Recreation
Department to recommend funding for this project.
IV. COMMISSION AND STAFF REPORTS
A. Dan and Joan distributed copies of departmental mid-
year reviews which basically outline goals accomplished
in the past year and sets goals for this year.
B. Dan r~ ayed his appreciation to ~le Commission for
nominating him for a B.A.P.R.C.B.M. achievement award.
V. ADJOURNMENT
The meeting was adjourned at 8:05 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.,
March 2, 1987, in the Senior Lounge.
