SARATOGA PARKS AND RECREATION COMMISSION

Chairman Vallone called the meeting to order.
I. ORGANIZATION
A. ROLL CALL Present: Franklin, Saunders, Vallone,
Ward. Absent: Clemens, Pakula, Pierce. Staff: Dan
Trinidad, Roy Swanson, Joan Pisani, Sharon Trejo.
Others present: Stan Thompson.
B. MINUTES
Minutes of the May 4, 1987 meeting approved as read.
C. POSTING OF THE AGENDA
Agenda was posted in Council Chambers on July 9, 1987.
II. OLD BUSINESS
A. UPDATE TRAIL PLAN
After lengthy discussion and review of trails and
pathways maps that were prepared by Stan Thompson, it
was decided to wait and see what role the Planning
Commission decides to see how our roles will mesh. The
Planning Commission will soon be doing the circulation
element of the General Plan, part of which is the
bicycle trail master plan. Dan will talk to the
Planning Director to see what role the Planning
Commission wants the Parks and Recreation Commission to
play in updating the trail plan.
III. NEW BUSINESS
A. HAKONE PARKING LOT ADDITION
The Commission approved the Hakone parking lot addition
as presented. Commissioners Vallone, Saunders and Ward,
yes. Commissioners Clemens, Pakula and Pierce, absent,
Commissioner Franklin abstained.
IV. COMMISSION AND STAFF REPORTS
Joan will have a report on the recreation survey at next
months meeting.
V. COMMUNICATIONS
A. LETTER FROM SARATOGA COMMUNITY GARDEN
The Parks and Recreation Commission supports the idea of
using City Property to relocate the Community Garden but
will wait for recommendation from Council.
VI. ADJOURNMENT
The meeting was adjourned at 8:45 to 7:30 p.m., Monday,
July 13, 1987 in the Senior Lounge.
