Randy Anderson Of Wilsey and Ham Engineering and
Planning Services showed a colored olan of the orooosed
landscaping, described the plantin~ material arid 51ans
for a bike lane. He exolained the schedule for the
project includes the review stage in which he gets
comments from the oublic and City Council. At the same
time staff and Caltrans review the design reDoft and
schematic plans. All comments will be considered, a
final construction plan will be prepared and the job put
out to bid so that roadway construction portions of the
job will be built late winter or early spring. Mr.
Kahle asked about retaining walls and Mr. Anderson
stated that they were in the plans. Other citizens had
questions about the style of walls and wanted assurance
that they would be attractive. Mr. Neale expressed
concern over the lack of planned walkways or sidewalks
and indicated he would donate land if needed to make a
proper walkway. Mr. Anderson suggested Mr. Neale write
to Council and have Council contact Caltrans. Mr.
Anderson will take these concerns to Caltrans before
meeting with City Council for final approval. Mr.
Anderson will bring information back to the Commission
at the November 7th meeting.
Roy outlined the Conservation Bond Act 1988 and some of
the projects suggested for the funds were: refurbish
oar course at Foothill Park; renovate Brookglen Park;
redo the volleyball court at Wildwwod Park; replace the

parks. Will be discussed further at the November
meeting. Application deadline is January 13, 1989.
The Commission reviewed a map of the Drooerty in
question and unanimously agreed that it has no
recreational value.
Bill Brooks explained that the Trail Committee is made
up of City staff, Planning Commission and citizens
concerned with the preservation of existing trails and
providing trails that connect with county trails. They
are also asking that followup be provided to insure that
developers do not build across DroDosed trail locations.
Priorities include development of flexible standards for
trail improvement; to work with the Parks and Recreation
Commission in developing additions to the existing
General Plan Circulation Element, including the
develooment of additions to the existing equestrian and
hiking trails. Their major concern is preserving the
potential link UD to the ridge and to Stevens Creek
Park. Mr. Brooks will bring the proposed amendment to
the Circulation Element, which will show the master plan
for trails in the Big Basin, Pierce Road and Parker
Ranch areas, to the November 7th meeting.
