It. OLD BUSINESS
A. Secretary Trinidad reviewed the status of Saratoga's skateboard
ramp. The City Manager has requested that alternate sites be
investigated for possible use and a report be prepared by
the first September Council meeting. The commissioners were told
that the ABAG Risk Manager was consulted further on the liability
issue and that he indicated greater liability than was first
thought. The City Council will re-hear the matter when studies
have been completed.
The commissioners again discussed the sound problems and thought
that the neighbors of Congress Springs Park who had previously
volunteeredto find another location should possibly be contacted
for assistance.
Parks & Recreation Commission Meeting of 7/2/90.
III. NEW BUSINESS
A. Bob Rizzo presented play equipment replacement proposals for ~he
commissioners to review. Replacements are needed at E1 Quito,
Gardiner, Kevin Moran, and Congress Springs Parks. He reviewed
the vendors charts with photos and prices, the average being
$29,000. A previously approved $35,000 Grant will be used.
Commissioner Swan indicated a preference for cooperative play
equipment. Commissisoner Saunders believed that this would be
more of a concern if our population was dense. Commissioner
Pierce suggested wood. Commissioner Franklin thought it best to
work with one vendor for all equipment to receive a price break.
One of the applicants for the upcoming commission vacancy
suggested a look at Marshall Lane School's play equipment which
is plastic/aluminum.
