I. ORGANIZATION A. ROLL CALL - Present: Franklin, Pierce, Saunders, Swan, Ward Absent: Clemens, Gilman Staff: Pisani, Rizzo, Tare, Trinidad B. MINUTES- Approval of Minutes - 6/11/90. Minutes were approved as submitted. Franklin/Swan. Passed 5-0. C. POSTING OF THE AGENDA Pursuant to Government Code 54954.2, the agenda for this meeting was properly posted on June 27, 1990. It. OLD BUSINESS A. Secretary Trinidad reviewed the status of Saratoga's skateboard ramp. The City Manager has requested that alternate sites be investigated for possible use and a report be prepared by the first September Council meeting. The commissioners were told that the ABAG Risk Manager was consulted further on the liability issue and that he indicated greater liability than was first thought. The City Council will re-hear the matter when studies have been completed. The commissioners again discussed the sound problems and thought that the neighbors of Congress Springs Park who had previously volunteeredto find another location should possibly be contacted for assistance. Parks & Recreation Commission Meeting of 7/2/90. III. NEW BUSINESS A. Bob Rizzo presented play equipment replacement proposals for ~he commissioners to review. Replacements are needed at E1 Quito, Gardiner, Kevin Moran, and Congress Springs Parks. He reviewed the vendors charts with photos and prices, the average being $29,000. A previously approved $35,000 Grant will be used. Commissioner Swan indicated a preference for cooperative play equipment. Commissisoner Saunders believed that this would be more of a concern if our population was dense. Commissioner Pierce suggested wood. Commissioner Franklin thought it best to work with one vendor for all equipment to receive a price break. One of the applicants for the upcoming commission vacancy suggested a look at Marshall Lane School's play equipment which is plastic/aluminum. The consensus of the commissioners was that more possibilities be considered and that a decision be made at the next meeting. STAFF REPORTS None V. COMMUNICATIONS A. Secretary Trinidad briefly explained the commission's role to the five applicants who had already introduced themselves and participated in some of the discussion. VI.
