PLACE: SARATOGA COMMUNITY CENTER 19655 Allendale Avenue, Saratoga, California TYPE: Regular Meeting Chairman Ward called the meeting to order at 7:30 PM. I. ORGANIZATION A. ROLL CALL - Present: Crotty, Gilman, Miller, Pierce, Swan,Ward Absent: Franklin Staff: Pisani, Trinidad, Tate B. MINUTES - Approval of Minutes - 7/9/90. Minutes were approved with a few minor corrections. Pierce/Swan. 6/0 C. POSTING OF THE AGENDA Pursuant to Government Code 54954.2, the agenda for this meeting was properly posted on September 26, 1990. II. OLD BUSINESS A. Secretary Trinidad updated the Commissioners on the status of the relocation of the skateboard ramp. The Council supported the neighbors of Congress Springs Park in adopting a resolution to remove the ramp. They also supported the youth of Saratoga by issuing a resolution to relocate the ramp to a Civic Center site to be determined at their next meeting of October 3, 1990. III. HEW BUSINESS Paul Rookwood, from the firm of Wallace, Roberts & Todd, the City's Master Plan Consultants, briefed the 35 residents in attendance on the purpose of this workshop and how they could shape the future Beauchamps Park plans by their input at this time. He further explained the process that would be followed. Printed on recycled paper. PARKS & RECREATION COMMISSI0~ MINUTES PAGE 2 September 10, 1990 Residents in proximity to Beauchamps were concerned with the slow development of their park and that the City was first developing a City Master Plan prior to completing Beauchamps. Commissioner Gilman explained the value of this approach as evidenced by the success of her neighborhood park, Brookglen Park. Commissioner Pierce stressed the merits of attending City Council meetings to become aware of future plans (e.g. Nelson Gardens) affecting everyone in the City, in addition to being able to voice their opinions, and affect these future plans. Chairman Ward also emphasized the importance of attending Council meetings, in addition to discussing the role of the Parks & Recreation Commission as it pertains to City development. Other Commissioners also voiced the same opinions on parks development and Council meetings. Secretary Trinidad gave those in attendance some background on the history of the Parks in Saratoga and assured them that Beauchamps Park would be a priority in the next fiscal year. B. Motion was passed to accept the following land development plans without Specific Conditions or interests on the part of the Commission. Ward/Pierce. SD-90-005 SD-90-006 Motion was passed to accept the trail as shown on the map following: SD-87-008 IV. COMMISSION AND STAF? REPORTS NONE COMMUNICATIONS A. The Commissioners voiced an appeciation on the professionalism shown by Paul Rookwood of Wallace, Roberts & Todd. B. The street is being widened in front of Kevin Moran Park. C.
