Residents in proximity to Beauchamps were concerned with the slow
development of their park and that the City was first developing
a City Master Plan prior to completing Beauchamps.
Commissioner Gilman explained the value of this approach as
evidenced by the success of her neighborhood park, Brookglen Park.
Commissioner Pierce stressed the merits of attending City Council
meetings to become aware of future plans (e.g. Nelson Gardens)
affecting everyone in the City, in addition to being able to voice
their opinions, and affect these future plans.
Chairman Ward also emphasized the importance of attending Council
meetings, in addition to discussing the role of the Parks &
Recreation Commission as it pertains to City development.
Other Commissioners also voiced the same opinions on parks
development and Council meetings.
Secretary Trinidad gave those in attendance some background on the
history of the Parks in Saratoga and assured them that Beauchamps
Park would be a priority in the next fiscal year.
