SARATOGA PARKS AND RECRF~TION COMMISSION
TIME: MONDAY, APRIL 5, 1993 - 7:30 P.M.

I. ORGANIZATION
A. ROLL CALL - Present: Barnard, Crott¥, Dutra, Swan
Staff: Rizzo, Trinidad, Pisani, Tare
B. MINUTES - Approval of Minutes of 3/1/93.
Dutra/Swan
Pertaining to the minutes of the 3/1 meeting, Chairman Swan
reported that she had contacted absent Commissioners Barnard
and Crotty regarding the Adopt-A-Creek Program. Barnard would
not participate because of a possible conflict of interest in
the creeks. A motion was made to appoint Commissioners Crotty
and Dutra to creek beautification and to ask Council to
solicit members from the Planning and Heritage Commissions to
assist in this effort. Barnard/Swan 4/0
C. POSTING OF THE AGENDA
Pursuant to Government Code 54954.2, the agenda for this meeting
was properly posted on 3/31/93.
II. OLD BUSINESS
None
III. A. WILDWOOD BRIDGE DEDICATION
It was decided to invite all Council members and Commissioners
to the dedication who were instrumental in the initiation of
this project. Dedication is scheduled for May 23rd at 4:00.
III. B. BEAUCHAMPS PARK DEDICATION
Beauchamps Park dedication is scheduled for May let at 9:30AM.
It was decided that the Council and neighborhood should be
invited.
IV. COMMISSION AND STAFF REPORTS
A. Monthly Report on Council Meetings
The Commissioner having the Council Meeting duty was not
present to make a report.
B. Joan Pisani discussed 1) registration for summer camps,
2) hiring another supervisor for upcoming programs, and
3) the 400 active local volunteers in Saratoga.
C. Brief reports were presented on the following from the
CPR$ Conference:
1) ADA
2) ISTEA - transportation system
3) Peaceful co-existance on multi-use trails
4) Misuse/abuse of leisure time
5) Repositioning of Parks & Recreation
Barbara Dutra volunteered to send the Council a "thank you."
~0~UNICATIONS
A.B. The Norcia and Stream petitions were received and will be
considered by the Commission at a meeting later this summer. It
was discussed that education of the residents with regards to
trails was imperative if trail development was to continue.
It was motioned that letters be sent to Norcia and Stream
advising them that discussion on the petitions will be deferred
until this summer's meeting.

C. Secretary Trinidad discussed the upcoming budget and the
anticipated shortfall between projected revenue and projected
expenses. He used this opportunity to announce his retirement
to the Commissioners.
D. The newspaper clipping concerning dogs running facilities at
parks submitted by former Commissioner Franklin was briefly
discussed.
