Routine Organization A. Roll Call Present: King, Koepernik, Peck, Peepari, Wyman Absent: Anderson, Fine Staff: Pearson Guests: Ann Waltonsmith, Jack Bellicitti, Mary Ellen Stamos, Jennifer Davis, Paul Hao, Klm Duncan, Michael Youmans, Larry Ford, Jill Hunter B. Approval of minutes from 10/1£/90 The minutes were approved 5~0 C. Posting of the Agenda Pursuant to Government Code Section 94954.2, the agenda was posted on Wednesday November 3, 1999 D. Oral Communications Jill Hunter and Larry Ford, of the recently established Heritage Tree Society, presented to the Commission their group's goals and intentions. The Society would like to work with the HPC to try to better integrate the City's tree policies into the planning process. Jill and Larry mentioned that an inventory of Heritage trees may be necessary. It was discussed that a group may have made a similar effort in 1992 and that the City's Tree Protection Handbook may be what came from the group. Other cities such as Burlingame, Menlo Park and San Mateo County should be looked at for similar programs. E. Written Communications Letter from Saratoga Union School District Commissioner Wyman excused herself from the meeting II. Old Business B. None III. New Business A. 18500 Marshall Lane - Bellicitti Ranch The Commission liked the plans and noted that the siding should match the existing siding and should be redwood. The commission also expressed concerns that wood windows should be used when the windows are replaced. The applicant will explore options for both the siding and windows. When the plans have been revised and the window and siding information has been submitted, staff will contact Norman Koepernik and Robert Peepari to review and approve the details. Approved 4-0. B. 13561 Argonne Drive - Stamos, Johnson-Kerr House The Commission asked for a condition that the siding of the garage shall match the existing siding on the residence. Approved 4-0. C. 14230 Saratoga-Sunnyvale Road - Navico, Inc. The Commission approved the demolition 4-0. D. 14261 Springer Avenue - Hao The Commission asked for a permanent location to store the color photographs of the existing structures. The Commission agreed that changes to the plans are needed to make the proposed residences more compatible with the neighborhood. Approved the demolition 4-0. IV. Items Initiated by the Commission A. Commissioner Peck mentioned that he will meet this week with the owner of the Big Basin Bistro building to discuss future changes including the possibility of a mural on the exterior wall facing Bank of America. B. Commissioner Peepari asked for clarification on the fine that was assessed the owner of the property at 14031 Saratoga Avenue. Commissioner Koepernik explained. C. Kim Duncan, a San Jose State University student, is working on updating the Saratoga's Heritage book. Kim asked ff a building that has been demolished should still be included in the book. It was decided that a special section at the back of the book should be devoted to historic resources that have been lost. V. Items Initiated by the Secretary A. None VI.
