Minutes
The reading of the minutes for June 17, 1982 and July 15, 1982 was
waived and the minutes adopted unanimously.
I. Slides of ~he Village Area
The Commission reviewed the slides taken of the Village during its
walk through the Village on July 22, 1982. Commissioner Heid also showed
films taken of Saratoga from 1964 to the mid-1970's.
During the intermission of the slide show, Chairman Voester indicated
she had spoken to Dennis Wardell from the City of Campbell and had received
information on applying for grants to conduct historic resource inventories
and public information programs. Staff indicated that copies of ~is
information would be mailed to the Commissioners.
The Commission also discussed following up on the initial photo and
statement of Commission activities that appeared in the Saratoga News.
There was consensus among the Commissioners present that a better article
was required in order to generate some enthusiasm in the community. One
suggestion was that the Commission should write its own article for pub-
lication in the newspaper. It was also suggested that this article be
written after the Commission had accomplished its initial work and then
describe what was done and why. Commissioner Heid suggested that the
Commission could coordinate its program with Mrs. Oden and the
Historical Society.
II. Categorization of Saratoga's Historical Eras
Commissioner Heid suggested that the Commission do more homework on
Saratoga's historical eras as a prelude to making comments on those
eras. Commissioner Landsness suggested that each Commissioner outline
their comments on these eras. Commissioner Heid indicated he would con-
tinue his work on categorizing the items on the City's Historical and
Cultural Resources Inventory and that these items could be categorized
by area. The Commission also discussed how far their initial review
should go in terms of the actual area covered. Staff suggested that
the Commission begin with the boundaries originally established for the
Village walk and that these boundaries could be expanded if the
Commission felt a need to do so.
III. Adjournment
The meeting was adjourned at 5:30 P.M.
