MINUTES

Present: Commissioners Heid, Landsness, Mc Arthur, Chairman Voester
Absent: Commissioner Bolger
Minutes
The Commission noted one error in the minutes of October 28, 1982 which
was the incorrect spelling of Lundblad's Lodge in the second paragraph
from the bottom ~of the first page. With this correction the reading of
the m&nutes of October 28, 1982 was waived and the minutes approved
unanimously.
I. REVIEW OF HISTORIC STRUCTURE SLIDES
Commissioner Heid introduced Mrs. Melitta Oden of the Saratoga
Historical Society to the Commission as probably the most knowledgeable
person on the History of Saratoga. And indicated she was willing to
to help the Commission in identifying potentially historic structures
among the slides taken of the Village Area. The slides were then shown
with the following results:

6,7 - Mrs. Oden indicated she would attempt to find out if these
slides were of the Foster ~ouse.
8 - Appeared to be built in the 1930's or 1940's.
9 - Appeared to be built in the Mid 1920's
10 - Barn or ~table remodeled by Poly(?)
11,12 - The Bell house, looks about the same as the original construction.
13 - Built in mid -1930's
14 - Mc Pherson house built in 1920's
15 - Barnes house built in 1920's
16 - Cunningham house
17 - Winslow house. Built by Chamberlain in 1920's
18 - Saratoga Federated Church, Original church built in 1915.
Additions in 1930's and 1960's.
23 - Swanee Building built in 1904-1905
24 - Discussed moving of the Mc William house and museum building
from Pacific Valley Bank site to their present locations
26 - Odd Fellows Building built in 1930's
27 - Rispaud house
29 - Unknown
30 - Unknown
31 - Whiteman house built in 1920's
32 - Bertleson house built in 1912 by Mann.
33 - Unknown
34 - It was not known whether this was the Taber or Parsons house.
One of the Commissioners is supposed to check with Mrs. Vargas
to determine if she knew the origin of the house
35 - Lundblad's Lodge. 1918 - became lodge and restaurant.
36 - Staff to check the address of this house.
37 - Zambetti (?) property.
38-41 - Gaines cottages built in 1913 by Mrs. Elizabeth Small.
43 - Saratoga School built in 1923.
44 - Congretional Church Parsonage built in 1886.
45 - Built in 1897 by Clarence George
46 - Unknown
47 - Unknown
48 - Hayes house
49 - Example of Mission Revival
57-59 - Mc Carthy house, 20600 Lomita, built in 1877.

2 - Judge Foster (Albright) house on Marion Road.
3 - Pollard house
~8 - Imperial Savings building built in 1910; bank built in 1913.
20 - Metzger House built in 1~12.
? - House with overgrown shrubery likely built in same period as
the Missionary House.
50 - Built in 1870-1875, 14645 Big Basin Way.
Most of the slides were of the Village along Big Basin Way but
not many were of historic significance. The Kahle house on Brookwood
Lane could not be positively identified as a Julia Morgan Design. Mrs.
Oden indicated she would investigate some of the buildings whose origins
were unknown.
After thanking Mrs. Oden for her assistance the Commission decided
its next meeting would be held January 11, 1983 in the usual meeting place.

The meeting was adjourned at 5:45 P.M.
