I. WORK SESSION ON COUNTYINVENTORy
The Commission asked Staff to set aside some library space
in the City Offices for reference materials on Heritage Resource
Preservation. Staff was also asked to locate the negatives for
the photographs in the City's historic inventory binder.
Commissioner Voester presented her work to date on Saratoga's
Heritage Resource Inventory and indicated that descriptions for
items No. 2, 7, 62, 63 and 72 were missl~ng from the inventory
binder. Further research was necessary on these items. Also, items
No. 66 and 68 were not located within the City limits of Saratoga
and Commissioner Voester stated that the Commission may want to
consider deleting these items from the City's inventory. Discussion
then followed on whether a separate list of heritage resources should
be prepared for the City's Sphere of Influence Area.
Commissioner Voester then described a list of corrections to
be made to the Santa Clara County Heritage Resource Inventory (SCCHR).
The list is as follows:
No. 6 Garrod Ranch, 22600 Mr. Eden Road -- This item was
in the 1975 edition of the SCCHR, but was left out of the
most recent edition and should 5e reinstated.
Page 2 ......
No. 29 Kerr~Hogg Building, 14415 Big Basin Way -- There
should be two addresses for this building and the name
Kerr should also be used in the SCCHR listing.
No. 24 Cloud-Smith Building, 14503 Big Basin Way.
No. 25 Sam Cloud House, 14501 Big Basin Way. Address
correction is required for these items, andthe Commission
also felt that No. 26, the barn associated with these
buildings at 20640 Third Street, should be included in the
SCCHR.
No. 56 Crowell House, 19855 Douglas Lane -- This item
was also in the 1975 SCCHR, but was left off of the most
recent edition.
At this point, discussion diverged from the list of corrections
and the Commission requested that Staff prepare a form letter to
notify property owners of the Commissionts desire to have their
property listed on the SCCHR. The Commission also decided to make
sure the former Clef House is deleted from the SCCHR since that
building no longer stands.
The list of corrections then continued:

Dear
The Heritage Preservation Commission of the City of Saratoga has been
working on new nominations for heritage (historic) resources in
Saratoga that could be added to the Santa Clara County Resource Inven-
tory. Properties listed in the county inventory have no restrictions
placed onthem becauee of that listing. The purpose of the inventory
is only to provide historical information and to keep a record of
Santa Clara County's heritage resources.
The Heritage Preservation Commission would like to nominate your property
at
for inclusion in the coumtyinventory. There is evidence that your prop-
erty is an important part of Saratoga's history, and we would like to share
that information with others interested in the County's history.
Please contact the Heritage Preservation Commission, or Mike Flores, at
the above address, or call 867-3438 if you have objections or concerns about
your property being part of the Santa Clara County Heritage Resource Inventory.
If you do not wish your property to be listed in the inventory, the Heritage
Preservation Commission will cease to consider the matter upon notification
of your wishes. We hope you will support the inclusion of your property in the
County Inventory.
Thank you for taking the time to read this letter.
Sincerely,
Seonaid (Shona) McArthur, Chairman
Heritage Preservation Commission
