was waived and the minutes approved with the following corrections:
1) Commissioner Voester noted that #48 of the corrected in-
ventory should be spelled Dresser, not Dressier.
2) Commissioner Heid noted that #23 of the corrected in-
ventory should be called the "Green Store", not the "Green Star"
The minutes were then approved and seconded.
I. OLD BUSINESS
A. The Map of Historical Sites of Saratoga that is to be
used at the November 21, 1983 meeting with the Historical Society
was presented to the whole commission for suggestions on improv-
ing it. It was mentioned that a Legend was needed to make the
various color-coded areas understandable, but then it was discovered
that someone (MIKE?) had already begun one.
Commissioner Cameron mentioned that a list of the color-
coded inventory should be made up by computer print-out on one long
flat sheet to be put up on the display with the map. This would
make identification of the sites easier for the H~storical Foundation
members.
B. Commissioner Voester mentioned the fact that we should
be dilligent in our efforts to enlarge the Inventory and introduced
a list of Potential Candidates to whom she suggested!w~send!am~
invitation for our joint meeting with the Historical Foundation.
The list was as follows:

County Inventory; 136i~ Fruitvale Ave., Saratoga.

Chairman McArthur also suggested that an invitation be sent
to West Valley College Business Services, since they have an
historic building on the campus that they are interested in
designating.
Commissioner Henderson suggested that we take advantage of her
real estate connections to find out some of the owners names and
addresses. It was suggested that a letter be drafted (by Staff)
to make contact with the owners of potential inventory candidates
once we find out who they are.
C. Ideas for the joint meeting with the Historical Foundation
were then discussed.
1) Explanation of criteria for inventory
2) What the Heritage Commission is doing and has ac-
complished so far.
3) Why do we need their help and how we can best utilize
their input.
4) Definition of the Commission's goals
5) Explanation of the Inventory to date
6) Explanation of the Map
7) Slide show (Commissioner Held) showing specific
examples of our Historic Eras
8) Discussion of some of the buildings that we are in-
terested in knowing more about
9) Discussion of endangered historic buildings
10) Commissioner Landsness passed around a copy of an in-
formal inventory "search" form that she had prepared. This was
approved with the addition of one more question a request for
information on non-structural historic sites. Since this form is
not specifically intended for the membership of the Historical
Foundation, it can be used by the Commission to reach other in-
terested Saratogans. It was decided to make 50 copies of this
form to be attached to 50 copies of the simplified version of the
corrected Inventory.
11) It was suggested that an invitation be published in
the Saratoga News to the public - accomplishing a public forum
introduction of our Commission and a request for help at the same
time.
12) Meeting date and time were given as follows:
Date: Monday, Nov. 21, 1983. Time: ~8:00 (we should be there at
7:30 to set up). Place: Saratoga Community Library Meeting Room
(3)
D. More discussion of how to abtain accurate information
on potential Inventory candidates, and how to verify information
we already have. We also discussed the need for a system of
organization for keeping track of possible Inventory entries
and the research done on them. It was decided that we need some
proceedural direction in this matter.
Commissioner Held recommended a trip to the Historical Museum
for inquiries on old residences.
E. Commissioner Landshess discussed the growing number of
books and periodicals that she has obtained for the Robinson
Heritage Resource Collection being prepared for the Saratoga
Community Library. She is waiting on a stamp of identification
for these materials before putting them into the library. She
also made inquiries as to the availability of funding for more
materials.
