I. OLD BUSINESS A. Preparation for Meeting with City Council Discussion and preparation for our meeting on April 10th with the City Council ensued. The Education committee and the Heritage Resource Designation committee each gave Chair- man Landsness a list of their goals and the direction they will be taking in the coming year. City Liason and Codes committee will get their goals to Chairman Landsness by the end of the week so she can summarize them into an outline to have for our meeting. It was decided by the Commission members to give the City Council members a brief outline of our goals. It was also decided that each Commission member should bring their copy of the Heritage Resource Inventory to the meeting on Tuesday so the City Council members can look at them. There was no discussion on the budget. Heritage Preservatio Committee Minutes Page 2 4/4/84 II. NEW BUSINESS The House Tour Committee will meet May 9th. The Heritage Commission meeting scheduled for May 9th was changed to May 2. And the meeting for May 23 was changed to May 16th. The commission decided that a letter should be sent to each Heri- tage Designation applicant informing them of the Commissions ac- tion on their application as required by our ordinance. RE: Study session on April 10, each Commission member will contact staff regarding the location of the meeting. LOGO: It was decided that the Logo should be kept simple, and avoid a "too busy" look. We decided that the use of an older house in the center of the logo would be symbolic of the structures we are trying to preserve. Additions to the inventory: Commissioner McArthur gave Commissioner Voester more information on structures we are reviewing as possible additions to our inventory. Her students at DeAnza are helping us with this task. Commissioner Voester gave Commissioner McArthur a package of forms on structures in the City that she and Commissioner Henderson decided should be investigated as possible inventory ad- ditions. After enough information is gathered on each structure then the Commission as a whole will review them. Commissioners Voester and Henderson will go through the forms and make a list of questions we still need answered about each home and then ask a resource person, possibly Melita Oden or Arch Brolly. Certificate: Commissioner Kvammee was asked to print a certificate for the Foothill Club and Montalvo designating them as Heritage Resources. Preparation for meeting with City Council; The commissioners discussed two items they would like to ask the members of the City Council. 1. Can we get a demolition permit review of historic structures listed in our inventory and structures that are 50 years old or older, to prevent them from "accidently" being destroyed? (180 day review period) 2. The commissioners would like to get the City Council members opinions on forming a district (Historic) in the village area, and if so what its boundaries should be.
