HomeMy WebLinkAbout07-17-1985 HPC Minutes CITY OF S6RATOGA HERIT6GE PRESERVATION COMMISSION MINUTES Date: Wednesday, July t7, IBSS Place: Saratoga Community Center Meeting Room Type: Regular Meeting ROUTINE ORGANIZATION ROLL CALL Present: Commissioners Held, Koepernik, Kvamme, Mchrthur, Voester, and Cheirperson Landsness Absent: Commissioner Cameron MINUFES The minutes of June 19, 198S were approved with Commissioner MoArthur abstaining. The minutes of July 17, were approved. The minutes of April 17 were approved with Commissioner Kvamme abstaining. OLD BUSINES~ A. McWilliamm House Findings The report of finding~ for HP-IO was pre~ented. A correction wes made for the last word of paragraph ~l: archetectural should read architectural. Mike amked thai Sharon follow up to Make sure ordinances for HP-7, HP-9, and HP--10 are prepared and placed on %he City Council agenda. Warren ~oved/Sharen seconded the motion for approval of Findings of the Mc~illiams House. B. Commissioner Koepernik reported on the bronze plaques for Heritage Landmarks. The standard size of S" x 8" will run $98 less $8 discount. We are promitred one let%mr per square inch, hence 40 let%mrs. Norm will get estimate on 4" x S", use of city logo, and what is involved if minor changes are made to each plaque. C. Presentations to House Tour Participants Resolutions have been prepared. They will be presented at a City Council meeting in September. Sennaid will contact all home owner5 to determine when all can attend. Heritage Preservation CoMmission Minutes Page 2 7/17/8S II. NEW BUSINESS The issue of the use of the Schrager property was discussed by Ohairperson LendsMeSS, It was decided that the commimsion could not take a stand to support either its commercial or residential USe, B. CoMmismioner Voester reported on designating the Firemmn's Bell as a Heritage Resource. She has aisc spoken to Sumanne Lorschbough regarding the designation of her house. She is very eager. Also, the Manager of Hakone Garden is hesitant to pursue designation as he is concerned over what kind o~ restrictions mighi result upon Hekone's development. The possibility of designating Gaprod Ranch was also discussed, but because it is in county property, 'the site will be considered later. Commissioner Voester presented a newspaper article from the Saratoga News which discussed the Los Altos Walking Tour. The possibility of having the newspaper publish the Saratoga Wetking Tour was discussed. The Commission received a call from Carol Mackel regarding revisions to the ordinance. A concern was expressed that there should be more concise conditions in the ordinance regarding moving historical buildings. E, Dan Trinidad was asked to construct a sign for Central Park. F. The Commission thanked Mike Flores and made a presentation to him for his sincere effort to keep the commission moving ahead despite all of us.
