HomeMy WebLinkAbout12-04-1985 HPC Minutes CITY OF SARATOGA HERITAGE PRESERVATION COMMISSION MINUTES Date: December 4, 1985 Place: SaratogalComanUni~Library, 13560 Saratoga Avenue, Saratoga ~ Type: REgular Meeting ROUTINE ORGANIZAITION ROLL CALL Present: Commissioners Cameron, Hetd, Koepernik, McArthur, Voester, and Chairperson Landsmess Absent: Commissioner Kvamme MINUTES The minutes for November 20, were approved as presented. WARNER-HUTTON HOUSE The commissioners toured the orchard-city hall area to examine prospective sites for the Warner- Hutton house. The prefered location was near the original farm house site, near the mature trees. C. Held offered to do a drawing to scale showing how the house would look at this location, especially for use with the city council. II. OLD BUSINESS ,, A. Designations 1. C. Koeperntk is trying to investigate additional information on the family of T.S. Montgomery, so we might find more historical significance in the stone wall. 2. M~uldin -Natdie Designation: C. Landsmess asked if we should attend the planning commission meeting where they will be discussing the parking variance issue on the house. A discussion followed as to what extent the heritage commission should be involved with such zoning variance requests. C Held suggested we contact other cities to see if they have a special zoning ordinance for Heritage Preservatie Commission Minutes 14/85 historic buildings. He proceeded to phone the City of Monterey and reported that they handle parking for historic structures on a property by property basis. C. Held said he would get a copy of the MOnterey ordinance for future discussion. All commissioners agreed that it is hard to apply contemporary parking standards to our old structures. III.
