~fter waiving the reading, the minutes for the 2-13-8B meeting ~ere
unanimously approved with three typographical corrections.

R. Review of plans for exterior changes to 146S0 6th Street, Owner:
Carol Mauldin
The Commission met with the property owner and David Smith, architect
for the project. David Smith presented the proposal. He noted that
he did not want to change anything about the house that did not have
to be changed, He noted that the porch ha~ been moved but he felt
that the porch was not part of the original home. He noted that the
proposal included mounding up in the front so as to reduce the
appearance of height but he did not know if the City would be
requiring a sidewalk in the front, The building will be white with a
medium blue trim. Commissioner Voester commented that she wished that
the home did not have to be raised for the parking but the changes
thai were proposed did not appear to diminish the historical character
of the ~tructure. Carol Mautdin stated that ~he wanted the structure
to appear as if it remained a~ a home. She did not intend to ever;
have a sign for her business. Commissioner Uoester' asked if there was
any fencing proposed. Mr. Smith explained what fencing was on site
and noted that some of the fencing would need repair'. Ms. Mauldin
stated that she wants to remodel the interior and keep the historical
appearance. Commissioner Koepernik made the motion to approve the
exterior changes to the structure at t4GS0 Gth Street with the
condition that any later changes made to the structure as the result

of other approvals shell be reviewed by the Heritage ComMission.
Commissioner Voester seconded the motion and the item was approved
unanimously. Ms. Mauldin end Mr. Smith were thanked for' coming to
the meeting,
B. Correspondence - Letter of Resignation from Jean Kvamme
Discussion followed on %he letter of resignation. The Commission
expressed concern for any miscommunication that may have occurred and
wanted to express their appreciation for the contribution of former,
Commissioner Kvamme, There wa~ concensus to look for ways to avoid
this situation in the future. Chairperson Landsnasa stated that they
would need to get the computer disc with the survey on it from Ms.
Kvamme. ~lso, ~lain Pinel of Fox and Corksoder, would have to be
contacted about the invite{ion. In the future it was decided that the
Commission should come up with policies before going out to contact
sponsors to avoid any future miscomMunications. Chairperson Landsnes~
explained the process for picking a new commissioner.

6. Village Plan
Commissioner Voester provided a brochure on the rehabilitation of
downtown Pleasonion. She stated that this type o? information would
be beneficial to %he Village Task Force. There was concensus that the
COMMiSsion would like some direction a~ %o when input from the
CoMMission would be appropriate in the Village Plan process. There
was also agreement that the Commission would like to know the outcome
of the City 0ouncil'$ retreat and what the resultant policies ar'e.
8. House Tour
Commissioner Voester questioned whether next year- it may be
appropriate to have group rates for %he tour. There was mgreement
that this should be considered. There was dlscussioo on the Temporary
Use Permit process. Staff wes directed to find out what the Fire
Department will be looking for on the inspection tour scheduled before
the house tour. It was noted that there was sanitary facilities at
the Historical Park, but people would probably use the facilities at
the restaurants when they ate lunch. Commissioner Bielinsl<i stated
that she will work on getting the lemonade donated. She wilI be
in contact with the local markets. Chairperson LandsheSS stated ~:hat
the invitations will be in this week. Commissioner Uoester stated
that she had a list of names %hat she would like invitations sent to.
Commissioner Bielinski suggested that any additional names and
addresses could be typed up on labels and the labels could be given to
the His'tory Center for mailing of the invitations. There was a
suggestion made %hat "Saratoga'5 First Hundred Years" could be on sale
during the day Of the tour.

tII. OTHER ITEMS
The Commission wanted to officially recognize the effort~ and tim~
spent on CoMmission ~et~ar~ by Commissioner Held, $~aff was directed
to draft a Memo ~o the City Council requesting an agreement to
relocate the Saratoga Volunteer Fire Bell if the bell is designated
as a historic resource and it becomes necessary to move it.

The meeting was adjourned at 5:~0 p,m.
