I. N~W BDS;N6~$ A. Alternatives for the Warner Hutton House Chairperson LandsheSS stated that %he City Council did not want to maintain the house. There wee some discussion on the possibility of forming a foundation ¢or maintenance o? %he home i? the City would be willing to donate some land. There wa~ a suggestion made that ~ome of the community leaders should be contacted to get their- imput. Commissioner Voester rammed around a no~ice from the Mercury News requesting suggestions fro~ the public on the renovation of the Hayes Mansion. It was agreed that this was one approach that Saratoga could use for the Warner Hutton House. Commissioner Koepernik noted that it was no~ the initial co~t of the renovation that would be a problem but the cost of ~aintanance that i8 the concern. There was concensus that the item would be discussed further after staff obtained information from the City Manager on when the decision had to be ~ade on what to do with the houee. Historic District Discussion There was agreement that a Meeting with the property owners on Oak Place should be set up to initiate the historic district process, Commissioner Koerpernik ~uggested that speakers from the State or anothmr historic district should be invited to speak at the meeting ~o that property value issues could be clarified. He also suggested that e list o? pros and cons for the historic Oistrict should be distributed to the property owners. Chairperson Landshess noted that it is important to get information on what structures are in the distric"~, There WaS concensus not to have a home tour next year but to concentrate on other issues, Commissioner Cameron stated that after the district ls formed, a tour of '[he district should be planned. A. House Tour Chairperson Landsness stated that she sent out a letter to the homeowners on thi~ yeer's house tour and resolution~ are to be written. She suggested that a working lunch with the California History Center should be planned so that the results of the home tour' could be discussed, Commissioner Held noted that the Commission should take the homeowners out for dessert a{ter the City Council Meeting when the resolutions would be presented . B. Saratoga Volunteer' Fire Bell There was discussion on how the reidcation of the fire belt would be presented at the City Council meeting. Commissioner HeiO offered his services if the bell was to be moved and a more attractive stand was desired. Discussion followed on how the Money for the ~ove could be raised, It was noted that the Fire Department or the Historical Society ~ay wish to contribute. Oommissioner Bietinski suggested that moving the bell could be a city event. The Fire Department could use some of their eq'uipment ~o move the bell. Commissioner Cameron suggested that another location for the bell may be as a marker for thevsite o~ ~h~ ~Id ...... ~ .... - .... t on Big Basin . OTHER ITEMS Commissioner Bielinski submitted her letter of resignation. She stated that her restaurant business is demanding More o? her time. However, she is still interested in working on the historic survey. The Commissioners expressed their appreciation for the work. done by Commissioner Bielinski and the time she spent ~orking on 0o~mi~sion matters.
