Chairman Held had invited him to come to the meeting to
discuss concerns about the Marsh-Metzger house on Big Basin
May. He expressed his concern that the Planning and
Heritage Commissioners needed to work together to resolve
issues= and that the Heritage Commission needed to be a
part of the process of reviewing applications involving
historic properties. He asked about the status of the
inventory and possible incentives for caners of heritage
resources.
Commissioners responded that the inventory should be
finished by the beginning of 1988, and that it would be
forwarded to the City Council for adoption along uith
suggested pro(active regulations and incentives.
Commissioner Tyrrell discussed the need for the Heritage
Co~mission (o be involved tn the review process.
particularly in light of the Marsh-Metzger house situation.
[n response to a question from the Mayor, U. Young noted
that there is currently no Mechanism to allow Heritage
Commisson review of applications except when a desianated
resource uss involved. The Marsh-Metzger application was
shown to the Commission as a cour(esy~ after staff
discovered a historic house was involved.
Mayor Peterson expressed concern about keeping (rack of
properties on the inuentory in the interim, before the list
was adopted and new reguZation~ in place. He noted he
would be discussing the Marsh-Metzger situation at the
Council meeting that evening, and would ask the Council to
give staff direction to make the inuentor~ list available
to the Planning and Building Oepartmen(s as soon as
possible. Projects inuoluing historic structures could
then be Monitored more closely. He (honked the Commission
for the opportunity to discuss the issue with then. and
