MINUTES
DATE: Wednesday, May 4, 1988 3:00 p.m.
PLACE: Warner Hutton House, 13495 Sousa Lane, Saratoga
TYPE: Regular Meeting
I. Routine Organization
A. Roll Call
Present: Commissioners Heid, Cameron, Ansnes, Landsness,
Koepernik
Absent: Voester
Staff: V. Young
B. Approval of minutes of 4/20/88
Commissioner Cameron noted that he was listed as being in
attendance at the meeting when he wasn't there. Secretary
Young stated she had mixed up Cameron and Landsness on the
roll call and minutes motion and would correct the error.
M/S Cameron/Koepernik to approve the minutes of 4/20/88 as
submitted. Passed unanimously.
C. Posting of Agenda
Staff noted the agenda was posted at City Hall on
Friday, April 15, 1988.
D. Oral and Written Communications
Chairman Held noted that he had discussed the Marsh-
Metzger house situation with Mayor Peterson. There was a
demolition permit that was issued, so not much else could
be done.
V. Young noted that, as a courtesy, Planner Calkins asked
her to ask the Commission if they had any input or
interest in the tile mosaic at the Paul Masson Winery on
Saratoga Avenue. She noted the building was proposed to
be demolished to make way for a new senior housing
project. Chairman Heid said the mosaic could be difficult
to save because of the nature of its construction. There
was consensus to relay to planning staff the suggestion to
photograph and document the mosaic.
Minutes - 5/4/88
II. Old Business
A. Warner Hutton House - sign
After brief discussion, there was concensus among the
Commission to forward a request to the City Council
regarding the placement of a "tasteful" sign at the City
Hall site announcing the "future home of the Warner Hutton
House."
B. Heritage Resource Inventory
Chairman Held distributed copies of form %75, the T.S.
Montgomery Stone Wall.
The Commission discussed criteria for inclusion in the
Inventory and decided that properties must meet at least
one or more of the criteria in Section 13-15.010 of the
City Code (Designation of a Heritage Resource) in order to
be listed on the Inventory. The Commission then went
through each form and assigned appropriate criteria to
each property, based on the architectural and historical
merits of the structure.
0nly one form, #19 - the Marsh-Metzger House, was deleted
from the list, because of its pending demolition. All
others were determined to meet at least one of the
criteria and will be on the Inventory list. Chairman Heid
will finish the remaining two forms so they can be
reviewed at the next meeting. V. Young will prepare a
resolution to adopt the Inventory for the Commission to
vote on at the next meeting. She will have it reviewed by
the City Attorney first.
III. Items Initiated by the Commission
None.
IV. Adjournment
The meeting was adjourned at 5:00 p.m. The next regular
meeting will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 18 in the
Warner Hutton House.
Respectfully submitted,
Valerie
