Roll Call Present: Ansnes, Koepernik, Mitchell, Peck, Peepari, Sabin Absent: Davis Staff: Adar B. Approval of Minutes of 6/12/91 M/S Peck/Sabin moved to approve the minutes of 6/12/91. Motion passed unanimously. C. Posting the Agenda Pursuant to Government Code 54954.2, the agenda was posted at City Hall on 7/5/91. D. Oral and Written Communications Commissioner Ansnes informed the Commission that Saratoga News soon intends to publish an article regarding the designation of Saratoga Avenue as a Heritage Lane. Commissioner Peck reported to the Commission regarding the City Council decision, at the 7/2/91 meeting, to consider the designation of Saratoga Avenue as a Heritage Lane. The public hearing is scheduled for 8/7/91. Peck also reported that the Council decided to add the name of a military person from the USS Saratoga, Spicher, who is missing in actioN, to the list of suggested street names. Secretary Adar requested direction from the Commission to the type of changes and/or maintenance application to historic buildings which can be approved at staff level and would not require the Commission review. The Commission directed Adar to prepare a list of applications, which can be considered administratively, for the Commission's review at the following Commission meeting. OLD BUBXNBS9 A. Heritage Resource Inventory Preview List The Commission reviewed the Heritage Resources on the preview list and determined the criteria which qualify each of the resources to be included on the Inventory for Heritage Resources. The Commission will continue the review at the following meeting. B. Heritage Preservation Commission's Work Program This item was continued to the next meeting on 7/24/91. III. NEW BUSINESS A. Heritage Lane Inventory The Commission prepared a list of suggested streets which have historical value and/or importance for the preservation of the City's character. The streets on the list may qualify for designation as heritage lanes. The Designation may be initiated by the City or owners of properties abutting each of these streets. C. Review of an Application to Change the Street Name - Cocciaridi Court The Commission reviewed the proposed alternatives for street names and had no objection to any of the proposed names, Deer Trail Way or Sunny Hill Way. D. Request to Restore the Chimney at the Foothill Club The Commission discussed the request to restore the chimney at the Foothill Club, a heritage resource on the National Register. The Commission required that the applicant submit a detailed plan of the restoration indicating all interior and exterior changes. The materials should be indicated on the plans and accompanied by samples. The Commission also directed staff to contact the State Historic Preservation Office for guidelines. ITEMS INITXATED BY THE COMMISSION The Commission considered and decided to add a second meeting on the fourth Wednesday of each month for special items or review of applications if submitted during the period between meetings. The Commission scheduled a meeting on July 24. The 8/14/91 meeting was canceled since a number of the Commissioners will not be available for that meeting.
