Saratoga, New York. A meeting was scheduled to discuss this offer
at the library this evening at 7:30. Chairman Koepernik indicated
that he would attend.
II. OLD BUSINESS
1. Report from Commissioners Davis, Dutro and Koepernik on the
annual California Preservation Conference.
The Commissioners reported on the various aspects of the annual
conference, including the CLG certification meeting. Commissioner
Dutro presented photographs from the conference.
2. Final wording for Heritage Notification letters and
Planning Department brochure.
The final draft language of the letter and the brochure were
accepted by the Commission. M/S Peck/Fine. Staff was requested to
include the production of the letter and brochure on the official
Planning Department Work Program.
III. NEW BUSINESS
1. Heath, 14300 Saratoga Avenue. Request for comments on a
proposed remodel and addition to a home on the Heritage
Resource Inventory.
In general, the Commission thought that the submitted plans were
sensitive to the existing historical resource structure. It was
suggested that more architectural detail, similar to that of the
main house, be included on the second story of the garage/second
unit addition and that final plans should be reviewed by the
Commission.
2. SD-93-004, V-93-011, SUP-92-010, Fine, 14075 and 14065
Saratoga Avenue. Informational item regarding a proposed land
division, variance from minimum lot size regulations and use
permit approval to legalize an existing second unit.
Larry Fine presented his proposal and indicated that the lot split
would allow him to sell the Florence Cunningham House, hopefully,
to someone who had the wherewithal to restore it to its original
condition. The Commission was informed that technically this
project was beyond their purview and that this was an informational
item only. Short of an official recommendation, the Commission
expressed unanimous support for the project and the intention of
Mr. Fine to sell the Cunningham House to an expedite restoration of
the structure.
IV. ITEMS INITIATED BY THE COMMISSION
1. AR-93-009, 14672 Oak Street, Taylor. Norm Koepernik presented
plans to the Commission pertaining to a modification to a house on
the Heritage Inventory. The project consisted of a roof change to
a portion of the house from a flat to a pitched roof. The resulting
interior area would be utilized as storage space. The Commission
expressed general support for the project. Commissioner Peck
suggested that original photos of the house be utilized to
determine the historical appearance of the house and thus serve as
a basis for the design modification. After further discussion, a
motion passed supporting the design as submitted. M/S Fine/Dutro.
2. Commissioner Peepari presented renderings of identification
signs for the Heritage Lane portion of Saratoga Avenue. The
Commission was in favor of the submitted designs and asked staff to
see if the City Maintenance Department could construct such signs.
V. ADJOURNMENT
The meeting was adjourned to 9 a.m. on Tuesday August 10.
