HomeMy WebLinkAbout04-11-1995 HPC Minutes CITY OF SARATOGA HERITAGE PRESERVATION COMMISSION MINUTES DATE: Tuesday, April 11, 1995, 9 a.m.* : , PLACE: Warner Hutton House TYPE: RegularMeeting . *The Commission will meet at 14051 Saratoga-Sunnyvale Road at 8:30 a.m. to visit the Heritage Resource known as the Carmichael House which is proposed for Landmark Designation. The Commission will convene for their regular meeting directly following this visit. Commissioners Artshes, Dutro, Fine, Pepari and Peck and Secretary White and Planner Dailey met Mr. and Mrs. Dahlbeck at their home on 14051 Saratoga-Sunnyvale Road. The group toured the house and grounds. I. ROUTINE ORGANIZATION A. Roll Call Present: Ansnes, Dutro, Fine, Peck, Peepari Absent: Koepernik Staff: Secretary White, Planner Dailey Guest: Mr. Cutler B. Approval of Minutes of 3/14/95 The minutes were unanimously approved as submitted, M/S Dutro/Fine. C. Posting the Agenda Staff reported that pursuant to Government Code Section 94954.2, the agenda was posted on Friday, April 7. D. Oral and Written Communications None. II. OLD BUSINESS None. III. NEW BUSINESS 1. 14051 Saratoga-Sunnyvale Road, Dahlbeck. Review and discussion of a proposed Heritage Resource Designation. The Commission commended the applicants on their renovation efforts and unanimously recommended that the house and grounds be designated as a heritage landmark, M/S Fine/Peck. Staff was directed to prepare the appropriate resolution for City Council review and approval. 2. DR-94-046, UP-94-008, Cutler, 14523 Big Basin Way. Review and discussion of Design Review and Use Permit proposals for an existing commercial building in the Saratoga village. The Commission unanimously approved the final architectural plans and proposed signage for the referenced applications, M/S Fine/Ansnes. 3. DR-95-008, V-95-002, Kim, 20472 Saratoga-Los Gatos Road. Informational item concerning a Design Review proposal to build a new commercial building on an existing vacant lot in the Saratoga village. The informational item was noted and filed. 4. DR-94-004, The Oddfellows Home, 14500 Fruitvale Avenue. Review of proposed renovation of the Oddfellows Home building which is listed on the Heritage Resource Inventory. The Commission reviewed the Oddfellows plan and voiced strong support for the renovation of the Heritage Inventory structure. They also forwarded the following recommended conditions to the Planning Commission, M/S Fine/Peck: 1. The Oddfellows Building should be designated as a Heritage Landmark. 2. The building and grounds should be documented by the Heritage Commission prior to any future development of the site. IV. ITEMS INITIATED BY THE COMMISSION On the occasion of her retirement, Commissioner Ansnes was applauded for her service to the Commission and the community in matters relating to Heritage Preservation.
