Routine Organization A. Roll Call Present: Fine, King, Koepernick, Wyman Absent: Anderson, Peck, ?eepari Staff: Bradley Guests: John Matthams B. Approval of minutes from 7/14/98 Meeting The minutes were approved 4-0 with a change from Comm. King C. Posting of the Agenda Pursuant to Government Code Section 94954.2, the agenda was posted on Wednesday September 2, 1998. D. Written Communications - None E. Oral Communications - None II. Old Business A. Approval of Conmfissioner Koepernick as Chairman of the Heritage Preservation Commission. Approved 4-0 ffine/Wyman) III. New Business A. UP-98~010 - Request to convert the full height attic to hving space and add 339 sq. ft. to the second floor, and 512 sq. fl. to the first floor and convert an existing detached carport into a 400 sq. fl. detached garage. A Use Permit is required because the proposed detached garage does not conform to standard setbacks. Approved 4-0 (Fine/Wyman) I5. Request to modify the floor plan and elevations of the "La Mirada"/Hale Estate listed on Saratoga's Heritage Resource Inventory. No aoor area addecL The Commission was favorable to the proposal and asked that a landscape plan be brought back to them for approval, recommended that the apphcant ask to have the residence designated as a landmark structure, and that they prepare a written history of the house including a title search of past owners. Approved 4-0 (Fine/Wyman) ~ C. Request from the property owners of 15019, 13027, and 13055 Saratoga- Sunnyvale Road to have their shared private drive named "Oakwood Court". The Commission commented on the over use of "Oak" in street names but did approve the name 4-0 (Fine/Wyma~ IV. Items Initiated by the Commission A. Comm. Koepernick recommends the nomination of Comm. Peepari for Vice Chair. Approved 4-0. B. Commissioners briefly discussed grant ideas, project of adding more properties to the Inventory, and doing a Context Video in the future V. Items Initiated by the Secretary A. Secretary asked who would be interested in attending the Register of Historical Resources seminar. Commissioner Wyman and the Secretary Bradley did attend. VI.
