PLACE: Crisp Conference Room, City Hall, 13777 Fruitvale Ave., Saratoga, California TYPE: Adjourned Regular Meeting I. ORGANIZATION A. ROLL CALL Present: Councilmen Bridges, Kraus, Brigham, and Corr Absent: Councilman Matteoni II. BIDS AND CONTRACTS A. Authorization to Advertise for Bids for Quito Road-Pollard Road Intersection Improvement Project Mr. Matteoni came in at 7:45 P.M. just as the City Manager was reviewing the scope of the proposed project. He indicated that the project includes the road widening, storm drain faciliti'es, traffic and pedestrian signals, Street lighting, and pedestrian walkways in Saratoga; replacement of the Pollard Road bridge over San Tomas Creek; and the widening of the south side of Pollard Road of the city limits of Campbell. The latter element being a project of the City of Campbell. He further reported that the total expected cost to the City of Saratoga ~r the road work in Saratoga and the City's share of the bridge replacement would be $217,250. The Di.rector of Public Works then reviewed the four properties where there would be some land take for the project. He indicated further that the City would be the lead agency for the entire project which involves working ~ith Santa Clara Couhty Water District, Town of Los Gatos, and the City of Campbell. It is expected the project will take six (6) months for completion. It is anticipated that bids will be opened on July 28 and if acceptable Award of the Contract could be made by the City Council at its regular ' meeting on August 4, 1976. It was then moved by Councilman Kraus and seconded by Councilman Brigham the staff be authorized to call for.bids for this proposed work. The motion carried unanimously. III. PETITIONS, ORDINANCES AND RESOLUTIONS A. RESOLUTION NO. 778 Resolution of the City Council of the City of Saratoga Determining that the Public Interest and Necessity Require the Acquisition of Certain Lands and Interests in Lands Authorizing the Commencement of Eminent Domain Proceedings for Quito Road-- Pollard Road. The City Manager reviewed the prov~si.ons of the draft resolution. The first section defi~ed the.public interest and necessity require the acquisition, construction and completi6n by the City of Saratoga of the public improvement, that being; the portions of Quito Road and Pollard Road intersection. Section two authorizes the City of Saratoga to take necessary steps to acquire Fee Title II and an interestin a right-of-way in, over, under, and along the hereinafter described real property necessary lfor this project. And if necessary, byL~condemnation through the commencement of eminent domain proceedings. It further authorizes the City Attorney to take necessary steps for the purposes of determining the acquisition and making application to a court of law to fix the amount of set costs of such if necessary. Section three of the resolution then described the pieces of property to be purchased for the improvement. After some discussion, it was moved by Councilman Brigham and seconded by Councilman Kraus that Resolution No. 778 be adopted. The motion was unanimously carried. V.
