AN ORDINANCE AMENDING I'RDINANCE NO. 80E THE CItY
OF SARATOGA RELATING TbT THE REGULATING 0 KEEPING
AND LICENSING OF DOGS ~ND OTHER ANIMALS.F
The Ci.ty CounCil of the C~ty of Saratoga does hereby ordain
as follows:
SECTION. l: Section 3.1.26-12.7 !and Section 6.1.1-4 of Titles
3 and 6 respectivel~ of Section 1 of Ordinance No.
8, and of Exhibit "A"as contained in, Section 3 of Ordinance
No. 8, are hereby repealed.
SECTION 2: There is hereby added to Ordinance No. 8 of the City of Saratoga the!follOwing sections:
Section 6.1: DISPOSAL OF ~EAD ANIMALS. Upon learning that
the body of a!dead animal located within.the
ci~ytbas not been dispos~dl6f in a sere and sanitary manner,
or upon request of a person~ncharge of such body, the

and dispose of bodies of d~ad animals on s~ate highways or
on state property.

Section 6.2: EXEMPTIONS: ~The-fOllowing are exempt from the
requirement for license:
(a) Dogs less than i20 days old.

more than 15 d~s.
(c) Dog~ temporaril',brought'into the City for entry
into an event,[]ihow, or exhibition scheduled not
more than 15 da'~s thereafter.
(d) Dogs on sale i a duly licensed pet shop or dog
kennel where t~y are kept enclosed at all times.

that licenses And tags shall be issued for Ifs~ch
dogs upon requ~twithout charge.
LICENSE TAX, KENNELS AND PET SHOPS:

Owners of pet shops~and e els where dogs are kept
shall pay an annual dog license tax of $10.00 to the Tax
Collector.

LICENSE. P~RIOD:
Dog licenses shall expire On the first day of the
twelfth month after purchase. Dog licenses shall.he
renewed Upon expiratio~ and the license period for
dogs lic~se~.for! the first time may commence at any
time-during'the year.
When a license iS 7renewed ~fter 'the expiration 'dat~,
the n~w Iicense period'~hall b~gin on ~he expiration
date of the previous period.
PENALTY: '-
-The' tax for dog .licenses PurChased.~ore. than 60:days.
after the previous lidense period has expired shall
be $~.00. The tax f6r dog licenses p~rchased for the
first time in the city, and more thah 60 dayS. after
delivery of notice to]pay tax, shall be $4.00.
SECTION 3~ This ordinance shall~take effect and be in force
thirty (30) days after its passage, and before the
expiration of fifteen (15) days after its ~passage, it shall be
published once with the names~of the members voting. for and
against the same in ~a.neWspaper of general Circulation published
in 'the City of Saratoga.
