AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF SARATOGA AMENDING ORDINANCE
NO. 66, THE HERITAGE PRESERVATION ORDINANCE, BY INCREASING
THE NUMBER OF HERITAGE PRESERVATION COMMISSIONERS FROM
FIVE TO SEVEN.
The City Council of the City of Saratoga does hereby ordain as
follows:
Section 1: Section 3(a) Heritage Preservation Commission --
Creation of Commission is hereby amended to read as follows:
(a) Creation of Commission. There is hereby established
a Heritage Preservation Commission consisting of seven un-
paid members who shall be residents of the City of Saratoga
and appointed by the Saratoga City Council, with the following
qualifications:
(1) One member who shall have been a candidate
nominated by the Saratoga Historical Foundation;
(2) One member who, by reason of training and experi-
ence, is knowledgeable in the field of construction
and structural rehabilitation, such as a licensed
architect, engineer, contractor or urban planner;
(3) Five members appointed at large having demonstrable
interest in preservation of the heritage resources
within the City of Saratoga.
Section 2: If any section, subsection, sentence, clause or phrase of
this Ordinance is for any reason held by a court of competent juris-
diction to be invalid, such decision shall not affect the validity of
the remaining portions of this Ordinance. The City Council of the
City of Saratoga hereby declares that it would have passed this Ordi-
nanc9 and each section, subsection, sentence, clause and phrase thereof,
irrespective of the fact that one or more sections, subsections,
sentences, clauses or phrases may be held invalid or unconstitutional.
Section 3: This ordinance shall take effect and be in full force
and effect thirty (30) days from and after the date of its passage
and adoption.
The above and foregoing ordinance was regularly introduced and
after the waiting time required by law, was:thereafter passed
and adopted this 18th day of May 1983,
by the following vote:
