AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF SARATOGA AMENDING CHAPTER 9
OF THE SARATOGA CITY CODE, DECREASING THE SPEED LIMIT ON
SOBEY ROAD TO 30 M.P.H.
WHEREAS the City Council has determined, upon the basis of an enEineering
and traffic survey, that the limit 35 M.P.H. is more than is reasonable or
safe upon the hereinafter described public street within this City, and a 30 M.P.H.
prima facie speed limit is found most appropriate to facilitate the orderly
movement of traffic and is reasonable and safe, on said public street,
NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of Saratoga does hereby ordain
as follows:
Section 1: There is hereby added to Section 9-30.060(b) of the Saratoga
City Code, which section establishes a 30 M.P.H. prima facie speed limit,
the following city street:
Name of Street Description
Sobey Road Its entire length exclusive of that
portion of said street contiguous
to any school building or Erounds
which shall still be subject to a
twenty-five miles per hour prima
facie limit innaccord with, and at
the time specified by, Section 22352(b)(2)
of the Vehicle Code
Section 2: If any section, subsection, sentence, clause or phrase of this
ordinance is for any reason held by a court of competent jurisdiction to
be invalid, such decision shall not affect the validity of the remaining
portions of this ordi~ance. The City Council of the City of Saratoga hereby
declares that it would have ~assed this ordinance and each section, subsection,
z'- sentence, clause and phrase thereof, irrespective of the fact that any one
or more sections, subsections, sentences, clauses or phrases be held invalid
or unconstitutional.
Section 3: This ordinance shall be in full force and effect thirty (30)
days after the date of its passage and adoption.
