AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF SARATOGA AMENDING
THE CITY CODE BY ADDING SECTION 2-10.180 RELATING
TO PAYMENT OF AN EXPENSE ALLOWANCE TO
COUNCILMEMBERS
The City Council of the City of Saratoga hereby ordains as follows:
SECTION 1: A new Section 2-10.180, entitled "Expense allowance," is hereby
added to Article 2-10 in Chapter 2 of the City Code, to read as follows:

(a) Each member of the City Council shall be paid the sum of One
Hundred Fifty Dollars per month for each month during which a
Councilmember shall hold office. Such payment shall constitute an
allowance for expenses necessarily incurred by Councilmembers for
travel and attendance at meetings, events, functions and activities
within the County which the Councilmembers are required or
expected to attend by reason of their public office.
(b) The City Council may, by resolution, establish a policy for the
reimbursement of actual and reasonable expenses in addition to those
expenses referred to in Paragraph (a) of this Section, including, but
not limited to, the cost of travel, meals, lodging and registration fees
for attendance at meetings or functions as the designated
representative of the City Council."
SECTION 2: If any section, subsection, sentence, clause or phrase of this
Ordinance is for any reason held by a court of competent jurisdiction to be invalid or
unconstitutional, such decision shall not affect the validity of the remaining portions
of this Ordinance. The City Council of the City of Saratoga hereby declares that it
would have passed this Ordinance and each section, subsection, sentence, clause and
phrase thereof, irrespective of the fact that any one or more sections, subsections,
sentences, clauses or phrases be held invalid or unconstitutional.

SECTION 3: This Ordinance shall be in full force and effect thirty days from
and after the date of its passage and adoption.
