ACTION MINUTES
I. Call to Order
Chair Manzo called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m.
II. Roll Call
Commissioners Present: Chandra, Foscato, Johnson, Gipstein, Manzo, O'Donnell
(tardy)
Commissioners Excused: Cross
III. Report on Posting of Agenda
Pursuant to Government Code 54954.2, the agenda was properly posted on
October 18, 2001.
IV. Approval of Minutes of September 26, 2001, Library Commission Meeting
2 revisions: Old Business item a3 - 'fault' should be 'vault'.
Reports item b2 - Library was closed in August.
Commissioner Foscato moved to approve the minutes of the September 26,2001,
as revised.
Commissioner Johnson seconded the motion and it passed 5/0.
V. New Business
County Library Finance - Presented by Gay Strand, Santa Clara County Library
Gay Strand gave a presentation on the county library system as a whole. Topics:
History, Civics 101, Finances.
VI. Old Business
A. Library Expansion Committee Update
Commissioner Johnson gave update on Citizens Oversight Committee.
B. Temporary Library Update
Full phone service, computers are up and library is hooked up to the sewer.
There has been a positive response from the public.
Staff has been excellent through the change.
C. Chair and Vice Chair Election
Commissioner Foscato nominated Chair Manzo as Chair.
Commissioner Gipstein seconded the nomination. Chair Manzo was elected
Chair 6/0.
Commissioner Giptstein nominated Commissioner Cross as Vice Chair.
Commissioner O'Donnell seconded the motion and Commissioner Cross was
re-elected to Vice Chair 6/0.
VII. Reports
A. Susan Fuller, County Librarian
JP A Board meeting October 25, 2001
San Jose interested in partnership with Alum Rock Library
B. Dolly Barnes, Community Librarian
Diana Colby from the Child Services Program will address Library
Commission next month.
Commissioner Foscato will be absent next month.
C. Marcia Manzo, Chair Library Commission
No report
D. Ed Matlack
Not present
VIII. Oral and Written Communication
None.
IX. Adjournment
Commissioner Manzo moved to adjourn the meeting. Commissioner Foscato
seconded the motion and the meeting was adjourned at 8:30 p.m. 6/0.
