SUBJECT: Hakone Gardens Donation
Issue Summary
Mr. and Mrs. I. Dal Allan of Saratoga have donated forty four koi
to Hakone Gardens. The total retail value of the koi is $2,188.
Recommendation
Accept and acknowledge this donation by way of a letter from the
Mayor.

Dear Jack,
Its unfortunate you were ill the day we had agreed on releasing our koi into
the Hakone Garden's pond. Happily some other staff members were on, hand,
because after going to all the effort it takes to catch and bag them up, I
was not looking forward to having to bring them home and have to go through
it all again.
Forty four koi were released and I only hope they serge to survive the
heron. To get some idea of their value I went down to see the prices that
are charged at Dolphin Pet in Campbell. Their pricing is based mostly on
size, with a fear exceptions for special fish.

Based on these prices, -,calculate the total retail vale. to be $2,188. This

While I was releasing the: fish, a number of visitors showed interest and-all
commented on. :how serene the was. They all'asked why the wire was
across' the pond, so I wonder if a ssaall 'sign in the gazebo telling them
about the heron would be. useful.

Issue Summary
Mrs. Betty Fannuchi of Saratoga donated one Acer Palmatum
Dissectum (Lace Leaf Maple) in a large redwood planter to Hakone
Garden to enhance the maple collection on August 25, 1985. The
value of this maple is $150.
Recommendation
Accept and acknowledge this donation by way of a letter from the
Mayor.
Fiscal Impact
Donation of $150.
