SUBJECT: VACATION OF DEDICATED PEDESTRIAN WALKWAY BETWEEN
LA VISTA DRIVE AND THE CONGRESS SPRINGS SCHOOL SITE
Issue Summary
A pedestrian walkway was dedicated to the City as part of the Tract 2965
subdivision recorded in 1964. The City did not accept that dedication. The
walkway was intended to give access to the Congress Springs School from La
Vista Drive. The school was closed in 1982 and the site is now being developed
with residential units. Therefore, the pedestrian walkway is no longer required
and the Director of Community Development recommends that it be vacated.
Recommendation
The City Council should adopt the attached Resolution of Intention to
Vacate Dedicated Public Walkway at its meeting on March 19, 1986. A noticed
public hearing will then be held on April 16, 1986, at which time the Council may
adopt a resolution vacating the pedestrian walkway if the Council finds that the
walkway is unnecessary for present or prospective public use. The City must use
this noticed public hearing procedure instead of the summary vacation procedure
because the walkway has been used within the last five years.

public hearing on:

A copy of which Resolution and Exhibit are on file at the Office
of the Saratoga City Council at 13777 Fruitvale Avenue, Saratoga,
California.
ALL INTERESTED PERSONS may appear and be heard at said time
and place. The meeting begins at 7:00 p.m.; public hearings begin
when that item is reached on the agenda, but no later than 8:00 p.m.
Written Communications should be filed on or before April 10.
