PLACE: Fireman's Hall, Oak Ctreet, Saratoga, California TYPE: Regular Meeting PRESENT: Brazil, Jensen, Langwill, Rosasco, Williams ABSENT: None Mayor Brazil acknowledged Rev. King's Prayer of September 30, 1956 Bev. King's and asked that same be placed in the record. Prayer No objections. Mayor Brazil explained the rresentation of the American Flag would necessarily have to be posponed due to the American Flag presentation delayed fact that the VFW Auxiliary has not, as yet, secured the flag. Mayor Brazil announced the Council will now entertain gri- vances or petitions. 1. Dr. Joseph Simone, speakirg as both an individual and a member of the Bo,rd of the Santa Clera County Safety Council, asked the council to look Dr. Joseph Simone recuest for stop sign into the matter of erecting a stop sign at the at Highway #9 and Big Basin Way intersection of HiFhway #9 (Sunnyvale Highway) and 31u Basin Way. Coun^ilran Posaseo moved a committee be annoinced to study the traffic situ ?ticn at the junction of Highw=ay #4 and Big Basin Way. C =rried unanimously. Mayor Brazil then an- pointed Mr. L ;ngwil.l and Mr. Jensen as the committee to investigate the situation. -1- Mayor Brazil read a letter from Mr. A. A. Dempsey wherein the building situated between the Santa Clara County library and the Saratoga Electric Building on the A. A. Dempsey Saratoga -Los Gatos Road was being given to the City City Hall donation of Saratoga with the stipulation that the building is to be removed from the property where it is situated upon receipt of a sixty day written notice. Councilman Williams moved the Council accept this offer. Unanimously carried. Mayor Brazil stated the building which will house the permanent. City Clerk's office was being refurbished under the direction of Councilman Jepsen and that progress Refurbishing of City Hall was proceeding satisfactorily. He further announced when the offices are ready for occupancy, an open house day is planned. ORDINANCE #9 "AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF SARATOGA ELECTING THAT DUTIES PERFORMED BY THE CITY ASSESSOR AND Ordinance #9 CITY TAX COLLECTOR BE PERFORMED BY THE COTINTY City Assessor and City Tax Collector ASSESSOR AND COUNTY TAX COLLECTOR" was adopted unanimously by the Council. ORDINANCE #10 "AN ORDINANCE RELATING TO THE C.'1RE AND EXPENDITURES OF MONEYS RECEIVED FROM THE STATE OF CALIFORNIA Ordinance #10 UNDER THE PROVISIONS OF ARTICLE 5, CHAPTER 1, Expenditures of m neys from State of DIVISION 1, OF THE STREETS AND HIGHWAYS CODE" was California read and unanimously adopted. ORDINANCE #11 "AN ORDINANCE PROVIDING PENALTIES FOR VIOLATION OF ALL ORDIN,gNCES NOT OTHERWISE SPECIFICALLY PROVIDED Ordinance #11 Penalties FOR, AND PRESCRIBING IMPRISON'MENT OF ALL VIOLATORS' -2- IN THE COUNTY JAIL" was read and unanimously adopted. AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF SARATOGA IMPOSING A CITY SALES TAX AND City Sales Tax and USE TAX" was introduced but not adorted Sue. to Use Tax required waiting Period of five days. RESOLUTION #3 RESOLUTI0N OF INTENTION TO GRANT ELECTRIC FRANCHISE" was read. Councilman Williams moved the Resolution be adopted and set the date of December 6, 195E as the date of hearing. Resolution F. G. E. Electric unanimously adopted. Acting City Clerk was Franchise instructed to 'ublish Notice of Intention to Grant Franchise together with notice of date of hearing. F 7 3OLUTION #4 "RESOLUTION OF INTENTION TO GRANT GAS FRANCHISE" was read. Councilman Williams moved the resolution be adorted and set the date of December 5, 1956 P. G. E. as the date of her thg. Resolution unanimously Gas Franchise adopted. Acting City Clerk was inst "ucted to Publish Notice of Intention to Grant Franchise together with notice of date of hearing. Councilman Williams moved Mayor 3razil be appointed to r »gyresent the City of Saratoga on the Board of Directors Appointment to Sanitation District #4 for Sanitation District 4. Motion unanimously carried. Mayor Brazil then explained the reasons for Compensation Insurance Compensation and directed the Acting City Clerk to Proceed Insurance with the procurement of this insurance. -3- Councilman Jepson moved the minutes of the previous meeting as read be approved. Unanimously carried. Attorney Johnston informed the Council that the official registered Official number voters figure for the City of Seratoga as of of registered voters October 22, 1456, the date of i_ncorporetion, is 4462.
