COMMUNITY FOUNDATION

Dear - Honorable Council Members,
The Saratoga -Monte Sereno Community Foundation (S.MSCF) is a non - profit organization of
community and civic - minded, concerned individuals who are working toward improving
the quality of life in Saratoga and Monte Sereno.
Last year dialog was initiated-by users of the Saratoga Community Center multi - purpose
room to replace the linoleum tile with hardwood. This started the discussion between
SMSCF,,Dave Anderson and Michael Taylor. The floor- is very worn.and is cracked along the
center of the room. Not.only is the floor ascetically unappealing, but it is also potentially
dangerous to the users.who take exercise classes in that room..
The community of users has shown strong enthusiasm to fundraise for part,of-the cost of
this project. The Saratoga -Monte Sereno Community Foundation would like to be the
fundraising entity to work with users of the room and community members in order to
upgrade the floor, but needs support from the City in order to raise the required funds. The
cost of upgrading,the floor is increased due to asbestos, therefore we would like to propose
a partnership with the City in order to make this. happen.
Thank you for your consideration and the Saratoga -Monte Sereno Community Foundation
would welcome the opportunity to work collaboratively with the City to make this a reality.
We will commit $20,000 of the total cost of the project and would like to see the renovation
project start as soon as possible, preferably'in the 2012/2013 fiscal year.
