AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF SARATOGA
DESIGNATING THE PROPERTY KNOWN AS CASA DE
TESORO AT 14288 CHESTER AVENUE AS A HISTORIC
LANDMARK

The City Council of the City of Saratoga hereby ordains as follows:
Section 1-Findings: After careful review and consideration of the report and recommendations of the
Heritage Preservation Commission concerning the property at 14288 Chester Avenue (the "Property")
together with the application and supporting materials, the City Council hereby determines that:
• The Property is identified with persons or events significant in local, county, state or
national history in that local architect Mr. Warren Heid has designed the addition
completed to the house in 1967. Mr. Heid has significant experience as an architect in
Saratoga and has been providing his services to its citizens for many years.
• The Property embodies distinctive characteristics of a style, type, period or method of
construction, or is a valuable example of the use of indigenous materials in that custom-
made, authentic adobe bricks were used to construct both the original house as well as
the 1967 addition. Both the style and construction of the home embodies early
Californian style architecture.
• The Property embodies or contributes to unique physical characteristics representing an
established and familiar visual feature of a neighborhood or district within the City in that the
house is one of a kind in Saratoga. It has been designed and constructed in a distinctive style
and resides in an upscale neighborhood with other unique homes.
Section 2 — Designation: The Property is hereby designated as a Historic Landmark pursuant to
section 13-15.060 of the Saratoga City Code.
Section 3- Publication: This ordinance or a comprehensive summary thereof shall be published once
in a newspaper of general circulation of the City of Saratoga within fifteen days after its adoption.
The foregoing ordinance was introduced and read at the regular meeting of the City Council of
the City of Saratoga held on the 19th day of October, 2005, and was adopted by the following vote
following a second reading on the 02d day of November 2005:
