Type: Regular Meeting Place: City Hall/Administrative Conference Room - 13777 Fruitvale Avenue 1. Routine Organization a. Roll Call b. Review of minutes from June 11, 2013 meeting. c. Oral Communication - Any member of the public may address the Commission about any matter not on the agenda for this meeting for up to three minutes. d. HPC direction to staff regarding non-agendized oral communications - Commissioners may not comment on the matter but may choose to place the topic on a future agenda. 2. New Business a. John Henry House. Vice Chair Nugent received correspondence regarding the recent sale and potential demolition of the home at 14630 Big Basin Way. It is currently listed on the Heritage Resource Inventory(Discussion only-no staff report). b. Quarry Park Project Liaison. The project manager from The Planning Center DC&C has requested that HPC commissioner Alexandra Nugent represent the HPC as a liaison for the historic elements of the Quarry Park(no staff report). c. Saratoga Historical Foundation newsletter. Vice Chair Nugent has been asked for background information on the HPC for an upcoming newsletter article (no staff report). d. HPC Training. Vice Chair Nugent is researching several options for the Commission's annual training(staff report attached). 3. Old Business a. Heritage Inventory Update. Review photos taken by Commissioners and discuss the architectural styles of five homes added to the Heritage Resource Inventory (no staff report). i. 19908 Bella Vista ii. 13685 Saratoga Vista Avenue iii. 13764 Saratoga Vista Avenue iv. 13514 Hammons Avenue v. 20365 Williams Avenue vi. 20200 Mendelsohn Lane b. Heritage Inventory Update — The Commission needs to review the application form for Heritage status (attached) and determine if changes are needed. c. Heritage Tree Inventory Process. The HPC needs to determine a course of action should the City Arborist determine that a proposed tree does not meet one or more criteria set forth in the City Council resolution(no staff report). 4. Action Items Update [NEW] a. Staff: The City Council approved 16 Heritage Trees at their June 19th meeting (Resolution and Inventory attached). b. Staff. The Inventory has been updated to reflect the address change for the Spinazze house at 19220 Citrus Lane c. Commission: Research County records/tax rolls and Historical Foundation records for original owner of the 10 latest homes added to the Heritage Resource Inventory. 5. Commissioner Comments 6. Any recommendation made by the Heritage Preservation Commission may be appealed to the Planning Commission within ten (10) days of the date of the decision. The appeal shall be taken by filing with the Secretary of the Planning Commission a written notice and filing fee within ten (10) days of the date of the decision. In accordance with the Ralph M. Brown Act, copies of the staff reports and other materials provided to the Historical Preservation Commission by City staff in connection with this agenda are available at the office of the Community Development Department Director at 13777 Fruitvale Avenue, Saratoga, California 95070. Any materials distributed by staff after the posting of the agenda are made available for public review at the office of the Director at the time they are distributed to the Planning Commission.
