SARATOGA CITY COUNCIL SPECIAL MEETING
Mayor Lo called the meeting to order at 7:08 p.m. and led the Pledge of Allegiance.

REPORT OF CITY CLERK ON POSTING OF AGENDA
City Clerk Crystal Bothelio reported that the agenda for this meeting was properly posted on
November 26, 2014.
ORAL COMMUNICATIONS ON NON-AGENDIZED ITEMS
Trish Cypher addressed the new members of the City Council and expressed her hopes for them.
ANNOUNCEMENTS
Vice Mayor Miller presented Mayor Lo with the Silicon Valley Turkey Trot Mayor's Cup
trophy. The City of Saratoga has won the Mayor's Cup for 4 consecutive years.
CEREMONIAL ITEMS
1. Commendation for Chang Tai Do Karate& Fitness
Recommended action:
Present the commendation recognizing Chang Tai Do Karate&Fitness.
Mayor Lo presented the commendation to representatives of Chang Tai Do Karate &
Fitness.
NEW BUSINESS
2. Declaration of Results of November 4,2014 General Municipal Election
Recommended action:
Adopt resolution declaring the results of the November 4, 2014 General Municipal
Election.

3. Recognition of Council Members Chuck Page and Jill Hunter
Recommended action:
Present commendations recognizing the service of Council Members Chuck Page and
Jill Hunter. Hear remarks from outgoing Council Members, City Council, and public.
Mayor Lo invited comments from the public.

City Clerk or designee to administer the Oath of Office to newly elected Council
Members. Hear remarks from new Council Members, City Council, and public.
Mayor Lo and members of the City Council remarked on Mayor Lo's term as Mayor.

5. Reorganization of City Council
Recommended action:
Appoint Mayor and Vice Mayor:
1) City Clerk declares the offices of Mayor and Vice Mayor to be vacant;
2) Nomination of the Mayor;
3) Administer Oath of Office to new Mayor;
4) Hear remarks from new Mayor, City Council,and public;
5) Nomination of the Vice Mayor;
6) Administer Oath of Office to new Vice Mayor;and
7) Hear remarks from new Vice Mayor, City Council, and public.
City Clerk Crystal Bothelio declared the office of Mayor and Vice Mayor to be vacant.
CAPPELLO/KUMAR MOVED TO NOMINATE HOWARD MILLER TO THE
OFFICE OF MAYOR. MOTION PASSED. AYES: MILLER, CAPPELLO, LO,
BERNALD, KUMAR. NOES: NONE. ABSTAIN: NONE. ABSENT: NONE.
City Clerk Crystal Bothelio administered the Oath of Office to Mayor Howard Miller.
Mayor Miller commented upon his appointment to the office of Mayor.
Mayor Miller invited public comment.

Members of the City Council commented on Mayor Miller and his upcoming term as
Mayor.

Newly elected Council Members spoke about their election to the City Council in the
