structure and describe any major alterations from its original
condition:
This square, hip- roofed two -story house with clapboard exterior sits
back from the street behind extensive shrubbery and trees. The front
entrance is off - center, accessed by stairs leading to an open veranda
with ornamental wood posts. The front door is plain- trimmed, made of
wood and glass. The roof is composition shingle, featuring a front
hipped dormer with an enclosed overhang, and two chimneys; one brick
and one stovepipe. The second story has a built -on deck or porch. The
garage and storage areas are detached outbuildings; the
deck, garage and outbuilding were constructed in 1922.

SIGNIFICANCE
19. Briefly state historical and /or architectural importance (include dates,
events, and persons associated with the site).
This property was originally owned by John Hourecan, the present
owner's grandfather. Hourecan was an Irish immigrant settler who
acquired the land in 1863. His daughter, Agnes, married Robert Hogg, a
well -known Saratoga physician, known for making housecalls in his horse
and buggy. They had two daughters, Norma Stafford and Melita Oden, who
is the current owner. Dr. Hogg acquired three acres of the Hourecan
agricultural land in 1900, completing this family residence in 1904.
Hourecan's ranch originally consisted of 80 acres of grains, grapes and
fruits. Melita Oden is the appointed historian for the Saratoga
Historical Foundation.
