7b. Briefly describe the present physical appearance of the site or
structure and describe any major alterations from its original
condition:
This is a two -story simple pioneer bungalow with very few alterations.
The living room, bedroom, kitchen and rear porch are on the first floor
with two bedrooms on the second floor. These two rooms (converted in
1944 were originally an unfinished attic and sleeping porch, as shown on
original blueprints on file in the Saratoga Planning Department. A
breakfast nook has been added to the rear of the first floor. The roof
is a center gable with the wide side toward the street; it is punctuated
by a large shed dormer supported under the eaves by turned posts. All
windows are double -hung sash with muntins dividing the glass on the
upper half. The cladding is horizontal clapboard. The front porch
extends the width of the house and features four sets of paired columns
and an open rail in a criss -cross pattern.
In 1990 an exact replica of the original house was constructed and added
to the western wall, presenting an appearance of twin attached
bungalows.
