The Commissione -s decided to call Geor -e Everhart Friday afternoon
if they are planning to go to the Youth Conference. Any necessary;
arrangements will be made at that time.

cannot serva another consecutive term. Since many of the
Commissioners will be leaving the area during the next year, tlis
bylaw creates some problems. The Secretary suggested the following_
possible solutions:
1. Recomamend to the City Countil that this bylaw be charged;
2. Acroi r.t an acti_n�_ chairman until. the Commission has a

3.. Elect Chairman Gordon Vice - Chairman and postpone electing
anew Chairman. This way Chairman Gordon could continue

To give the Commissioners some idea of the responsibilities of
the Chairmen, Chairman Gordon mentioned to following:
1. Establish the Agenda with the Secretary;
2. Spend 3 - 4 hours a weer: working on preliminary recommien-
da-tions for the Commission and meeting with people; and
3. Calling members.
The Secreta -y read the responsibilities listed in the e
esta.blishinr_ the Youth Commission.
The Commis :on decided to go ahead and elect a new Chairman and
Vice- Chairre.n and deal with any problems as they come up.

Commissioner Hammack said that the absolute last minute to submit
an article to the Saratoga News for publishing is 5:00 P.:'7. the
Saturday before publication. However, the Secretary would prefer
that the article be submitted. to him as soon as possible to allow
time to type it- before'submission to the newspaper.

The Secretary explained that it is not the role of the Youth
Commission to inti'estic^te individual complaints. The indivual

Commissioner. Hammack introduced Jodi Mathews and Andy Doo7',
who were involved in the cases cited in his article, to
explain to the Commission what happened. The purpose of -',-he
article was to make the community aware of the police-youth
problems, and Commissionei- Hlai-nmack explained that he was not
aware at the time that it needed to be approved before printing.
Jodi Mat'news was cited for littering. She and a group of

friends were in the lo: ,I-er section of the ' Plaza del Roble parking
lot between 8:00 and 8:750 F.M. when it '0ccured. She said
there was no -c)rovocatvion involved. She did not know that she
coul'] co: nla.in to the City Offices about the citation.
Andy Door was one of the 12 youths cited for curfew violations.

4th Street at 10:30 P.M. He said that there had been no warning-
from the police, that they simply arrived and arrested the
youths.
Barbara Sampson, Director of Commai.nitll,y Services, explared that
