Call to Order
Present: Cheryl Bailey, Renée Paquier, Thomas Soukup, Terry Ward
Absent: Vita Bruno
Staff Present: Mainini Cabute, Michael Taylor
Report on Posting of the Agenda: Pursuant to Government Code Section 54954.2, this meeting was properly
posted August 28, 2013.
Accept Agenda Items: No additional items may be added pursuant to Government Code Section 54954.2.
Oral & Written Communication: Any member of the public may address the Commission about any matter not
on the agenda for this meeting for up three minutes. Commissioners may not comment on the matter,
but may choose to place the topic on a future agenda.

New Business
1. Civic Theater Master Plan
Issue: At the May 16, 2012 Council meeting during the fiscal 2012-13 budget process, some Council
members spoke about the need for a modern Council Chambers that also functions as a theater.
City Staff visited the Menlo-Atherton Performing Arts Center in Menlo Park, the McAfee Center
at Saratoga High School, and the Heritage Theater in Campbell for ideas on how to make it a
dual use of the facility and reduce the cost and effort required to transition from meetings to
theater and back again.
Action: Review and comment on the Civic Theater / Council Chambers Master Plan presented by
Anderson-Brule’ Architects, Inc. and make recommendation to City Council.
- Paquier moved to accept the conceptual plan and forward to City Council for a favorable
recommendation.
- Soukup seconded the motion.
- Commissioners accepted the conceptual plan.
