ACTION MINUTES
I. Call to Order
Chair Manzo called the meeting to order at 7:30pm.
II. Roll Call
Commissioners Present: Cross, Foscato, Gipstein, Manzo, O’Donnell
Commissioners Absent: Chandra, Towse
III. Report on Posting of Agenda
Pursuant to Government Code 54954.2, the agenda was properly posted on 8/16/00.
IV. Approval of Minutes of June 28, 2000
Commissioner Foscato moved to approve the minutes of June 28, 2000. Commissioner
Cross seconded the motion and it passed 5/0.
V. Old Business
1. Architect under contract - Mark Schatz, BSA.
A. Library Expansion Committee Update
2. Project Manager contract to be approved.
3. Committee considering whether expansion be one or two stories in height.
4. City exploring temporary site for library during expansion.
1. S. Fuller reported that this program is offered by CTAC to assist library
commissions develop mission statements and work with political bodies.
B. Library Board Development Program
2. Tabled until membership decides worthwhile.
Tabled until more information is available.
C. Recommendation to Council re: Heritage Orchard
VI. New Business
Tabled due to absence of Commissioner Chandra .

VII. Reports
1. Saratoga leading the way on building development.
A. Susan Fuller, County Librarian
2. J. Farnsworth coordinating Leadership 2000 forum to develop new leaders in the
County Library System.
1. Distributed Digital Library Services handout.
B. Dolly Barnes, Community Librarian
2. Building Program continues to be refined.
3. Looking to Commission to provide guidance regarding maitenance and level of
library services during expansion .
No report.
C. Marcia Manzo, Library Commission Chair
1. October meeting with council postponed until early 2001.
D. Lori Burns, City Staff Liaison
2. Senior Center Fundraiser announced.
3. Dave Anderson, new City Manager.
4. Current recruitments: Planner and Engineer.

E. Jim Givens, Friends of the Saratoga Libraries
Absent. No report.
F. Sally Towse, Library Foundation

None.
IX. Adjournment
Commissioner Gipstein moved to adjourn the meeting. Commissioner Foscato seconded
the motion and the meeting was adjourned at 8:55pm. 5/0
