Meeting Minutes
DATE: Tuesday, September 20, 2011
TIME: 4:00 pm
LOCATION: City of Saratoga Planning Offices, 13777 Fruitvale Avenue, Saratoga, CA 95070
1. Call to Order: Meeting called to order by the Vice Chair at 4:00pm
2. Roll Call: Present: Stallman, Swan, Waltonsmith, staff: Harvancik; absent: Cosyn
3. Report on Posting of the Agenda: So done
4. Accept Agenda Items and Order: Accepted
5. Approval of Minutes: July minutes approved
6. Oral and Written Communication: none
7. Old Business
• Garrod Annexation – trail easements: No new news
• Saratoga to the Sea connection from Saratoga to Sanborn Park update: Site visit took
place with City, County and Mid Pen in attendance. City Council approved funding
agreement Aug 17th, Mid Pen approved it Sept. 14th. County has item on their September
27th Board mtg. agenda.
• Future Trail CIPs – no news
• Saratoga Avenue sidewalk – on hold for the present
• SB356 – local operating agreements for State Parks – Alternative route for Saratoga to
the Sea Trail was verified by a site visit. The trail would be an alternate to the one
through Castle Rock SP if that park is closed. It runs along the highway corridors mostly
out of view of the State highways 35 and 9.
8. Staff Report
• Trail maintenance: San Marcos, Villa Oaks, Heritage Orchard, Upper and Lower Tank
Trails received bush trimming.
• The Summer Hill development at Neil’s Hollow will rehabilitate the path all the way to
Saratoga High School.
• November 17 at 3:30 will be the Joe’s Trail Grand Opening
• November 3 is the scheduled reopening of Ravenswood Park
9. New Business
• 22100 Mt. Eden Rd. trail easement dedication – photo shown
10. Reports (information only, no actions to be taken)
• Pending trails updates - none
• Member reports - a suggestion was made to publicize trails in the Saratogan and also
to have a feature in conjunction with National Trails Day in June
