Call to Order Chair Biester called the meeting to order at 6:35 p.m. 2. Roll Call: Ballingall, Biester, Bustamante, Kane, Guichard Absent: Bustamante Staff: Director Cherbone, Analyst Borel, and Traffic Engineer Rashid 3. Report on Posting of the Agenda: Borel reported that Pursuant to Government Code Section 54954.2, the agenda for this meeting was properly posted on June 1, 2005. 4. Accept Agenda Items and Order: Item 9 moved to follow Item 10, Item 10 F moved before 10A. Election of new Vice Chair moved to end to follow Item 9. 5. Election of new Vice Chair – MOTION: Nominate Guichard as Vice Chair. Motion passed 4-0. 6. Oral & Written Communication No oral or written communication 7. Approval of Draft Minutes MOTION: Motion made to approve the draft Traffic Safety Commission Minutes for March 10, 2005, amended as proposed. Motion passed 4-0. 8. Discussion of New Council Direction for Commission 9. Staff Report - John Cherbone A. Project Reports  Marshall Lane / Sobey Road Traffic Safety Improvement Project  Highway 9 Safety Project  Aloha Intersection Project  Oak Street Pedestrian Improvement Project  Cox Avenue R/R Crossing Bicycle and Pedestrian Improvement Project  Gateway Improvement Project B. Discussion of Bicycle, Trail & Pedestrian Committee 10. New Business A. Traffic Matrix Item #94 – Todd – 18629 Clemson Avenue: Request for speed control on Clemson (see attached map and letter) MOTION: Motion made to approve the request for a 25 mph sign to be placed on Clemson. Motion passed 4-0. MOTION: Motion made to approve a stop sign on Clemson at Villanova. Motion denied 2-2-0, 2 abstain. B. Traffic Matrix Item #95 – Vickery – 18843 Casa Blanca: Request for speed bumps and street lights on Casa Blanca, pedestrian crossing signal at Dagmar is slow to respond. Recommendation to Staff to notify this person about operation of signal and Saratoga street light policy. C. Traffic Matrix #96 – Roeper - 19610 Three Oaks Way: Request for remedy to many traffic concerns (see attached letter) MOTION: Motion made to direct Staff and Traffic Engineer to obtain data that encompasses a holistic perspective of the street, and report back with a reasonable and appropriate recommendation to eliminate speeding, with a motion to amend to include Farwell Avenue. Motion passed 4-0. D. Traffic Matrix Item #97 – Snow: Request for better crosswalk markings at Titus and Prospect (see attached letter) No action taken at this time. Staff and Traffic Engineer have a meeting with San Jose Staff about this intersection. Staff will report back at next meeting. E. Traffic Matrix Item #101 – Miller - 19401 Shubert Drive: Request for speed reduction on Cox, speed bumps on DeHavilland, and reduce number of crosswalks on Cox at Miller from two to one. (see attached maps and letter) Direction given for Traffic Engineer to gather data and report back at the next meeting. F. How to proceed with neighborhood traffic issues with cancellation of NTMP 11. Announcements by Commissioners and Staff 12. Adjournment at 9:15 p.m to next meeting September 8, 2005 at 7:00 p.m.
