Regular Meeting
Minutes

Call to Order 6:35 p.m.
Present: Ping Li, Renee Paquier, Pallavi Sharma, Terry Ward, Rick Pearce
Absent: None
Accept Agenda Items: No changes.
Guests: Suzanne D’Angelo .
Report on Posting of the Agenda: Pursuant to Government Code Section 54954.2, this meeting was
properly posted on September 5, 2017.
Accept Agenda Items: The agenda was accepted and no additional items were added pursuant to
Government Code Section 54954.2.
Oral & Written Communication: Received public comment from Suzanne D’Angelo asking if “No Name
Park” is a City of Saratoga Park. She also asked if “No Name Park” is a city park, then will there
be any new add-ons, due to all the new development surrounding the park?
Approval of Draft May 11, 2017 and July 11, 2017 Parks and Recreation Commission (PRC) Minutes:
Commissioner Paquier motioned to approve minutes
Commissioner Ward seconded motion
Motion passed 5-0.
Agenda:
1. Age-friendly Cities Update
The Senior Center is rolling out a new transportation program with help from the VTA. Hoping
this helps meet more of the senior citizen’s basic needs. There are talks about trying to add a
sign before getting into Saratoga stating this is an Age-Friendly City.
Discussion about hosting a Movie for Senior Citizens in the Civic Theater. Dylan is going to ask
City of Saratoga Facility Coordinator for availability of the Civic Theater.

2. Work Plan Update
Discussion on the Commission Work Plan was postponed to next meeting.
3. Volunteer Work at Quarry
Commissioner Li reported that with the ground still pretty dry and hard, Ping suggested not
having any work days at the Quarry until November. First work day at Quarry is aimed to begin
on November 11, 2017.
The group discussed volunteer attendance and how to boost it for the upcoming year. It was
determined to ask Dylan to find out if Parks and Recreati on Commission can put up 2 banners in
City medians only.
o Commissioner Pearce motioned to approve median banners.
o Commissioner Paquier seconded motion.
o Motion passed 5-0.
4. Movie Night
The Commission asked Dylan to figure out when they will be able to recognize all Movie Night
sponsors at next available City Council Meeting.
5. Approval of Quarry Park Drone Video
The Commission watched the Quarry Park Drone Video. After the video was over the Parks and
Recreation Commission then discussed the video and how it could benefit and coincide with
Saratoga becoming an Age-Friendly City.
o Commissioner Ward motioned to approve Quarry Park Drone Video.
o Commissioner Paquier seconded motion.
o Motion passed 5-0.

Commissioner Pearce reported he received an email from a Saratoga resident about making
improvements to Gardner Park. Saratoga resident asked if a basketball court, bocce ball court,
bathrooms or a better picnic area could be added to the park.
