HomeMy WebLinkAbout08-16-2018 Public Art Committee MinutesSaratoga Public Art Committee Minutes - Page 1 of 2 MINUTES AUGUST 16, 2018 PUBLIC ART COMMITTEE REGULAR MEETING The Public Art Committee regular meeting was called to order at 1:34 p.m. in the Linda Callon Conference Room at City Hall at 13777 Fruitvale Avenue. ROLL CALL PRESENT: Mayor Mary-Lynne Bernald, Council Member Emily Lo ABSENT: None ALSO PRESENT: James Lindsay, City Manager Crystal Bothelio, Deputy City Manager REPORT ON POSTING OF THE AGENDA Deputy City Manager Crystal Bothelio reported that the agenda for this meeting was properly posted on August 9, 2018. ORAL COMMUNICATIONS ON NON-AGENDIZED ITEMS None AGENDA ITEMS: 1. Public Art Committee Minutes Recommended Action: Review and approve the Public Art Committee minutes from April 5, 2018. LO/BERNALD MOVED TO APPROVE THE PUBLIC ART COMMITTEE MINUTES FROM APRIL 5, 2018. MOTION PASSED. AYES: BERNALD, LO. NOES: NONE. ABSTAIN: NONE. ABSENT: NONE. 2. Public Art Priorities for Fiscal Year 2018/19 Recommended Action: Discuss public art priorities for the 2018/19 fiscal year, including renewal of past efforts or development of new initiatives. The Public Art Committee discussed possible priorities for the current fiscal year. The Committee agreed to the following priorities and requested that staff provide additional information about scope and implementation at the next meeting: 1) Saratoga Village to Quarry Walkway Impressions (on the walkway) 2) Decorative Bike Racks 3) Mosaic Community Art 4) Paint the City Saratoga Public Art Committee Minutes - Page 2 of 2 5) Public Art Brand 6) #SaratogaROCKS 3. Public Art Map Recommended Action: Review public art map and direct staff accordingly. Council Member Lo requested that streets on the map be labeled. The Public Art Committee approved the map with the requested change. 4. Wall Mural Recommended Action: Receive updates on wall mural artwork gift from Peter Mester, Pavel Mester; direct staff accordingly. The Public Art Committee discussed proposed gifts from Peter Mester and Pavel Mester and agreed to encourage the artists to stick with the original concept considered by the Art Committee. 5. Future Meetings Recommended Action: Discuss agenda topics and scheduling of future meetings. The Committee agreed to meet on October 22, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. to further discuss the Committee’s priorities for Fiscal Year 2018/19.
