Regular Meeting
Minutes

Call to Order: 6:33 pm
Commissioners Present: Pallavi Sharma, Ping Li, Rick Pearce, Renne Paquier, Terrance Ward
Commissioners Absent: N/A
Guests: Sandeep (Sandy) Muju, Tylor Taylor
Report on Posting of the Agenda: Pursuant to Government Code Section 54954.2, this meeting was properly
posted on September 5, 2018.
Accept Agenda Items: No additional items may be added pursuant to Government Code Section 54954.2.

• Commissioner Li seconded motion
• Motion passed 5-0
Oral & Written Communication: Any member of the public may address the Commission about any matter not
on the agenda for this meeting for up three minutes. Commissioners may not comment on the matter, but may
choose to place the topic on a future agenda.
Approval of Parks and Recreation Commission (PRC) Draft Minutes:
• Commissioner Paquier motioned to approve minutes
• Commissioner Ward seconded motion
• Motion passed 5-0.
Agenda:
1. Pickleball and Park Improvements
Staff Liaison, Dylan Davis, discussed the status of the pickleball court lining at Kevin Moran Park.
Commission is waiting to hear back from Parks on if the project will be funded this fiscal year.
2. Age-friendly Cities Update
SASCC and the Parks and Recreation Commission are trying to get together to bring older adults on tours
of parks all around Saratoga. One of the big parks that was discussed was Quarry Park. The challenge is
how to get older adults who may have a disability that hinders them from getting up the steep hills.

Both parties want to speak with Parks to discuss using some type of motorized vehicle to take people up
the steep hills.
Tylor Taylor also spoke with commission about the upcoming health fair on November 3, 2018.
3. Dogs off Leash in City Parks
The commission has decided to do some research on different options for dog off leash opportunities by
reaching out to neighboring cities who have implemented dogs off leach options in their city parks
within the last 5 years. Finding will be discussed next meeting.
4. Work Plan Update
No action taken
5. Volunteer Work at Quarry
Let’s Work program starts in November. Ping has contacted Babette McKay asking her to reach out to
any volunteers who are interested in participating.
