** Don't Leaf Safety Behind this Fall **
Check out these tips from the City of Saratoga to prepare for power outages and keep you and your family safe this fall.
1. Update your PG&E contact information for notifications of a power outage at www.pge.com/wildfirealerts
2. Make sure you know how to open garage doors during a power outage
3. Create or restock an emergency kit with fresh batteries, flashlights, cash, and first aid supplies
4. Prepare a backup charging method for medical equipment, phones, and other devices
5. Plan for medical needs that rely on power, such as powered medical devices or refrigerated medications
6. Keep printed copies of important phone numbers
** PG&E Public Safety Power Shutoff **
As part of PG&E’s efforts to reduce wildfire risk, PG&E is expected to turn off power on days with a high risk of wildfire as part of their Public
Safety Power Shutoff (PSPS) program. Conditions that will result in a PSPS include: Red Flag Warning Days, low humidity, high winds, and
dry vegetation/fuels.
Outages could last longer than 2 days and can impact any PG&E or SVCE customer. PG&E will aim to notify customers 48 hours in
advance via phone call, text, or email. However, weather conditions can change quickly, and PG&E may be unable to fully execute noticing
procedures. After high wildfire risk conditions have passed, PG&E will conduct inspections and any necessary repairs before power can be
restored.

** Living with Coyotes **
Saratoga is home to an abundance of wildlife, including coyotes.
Review these tips for coexisting safely with coyotes:
• If you encounter a coyote, avoid direct eye contact and leave
the area calmly without turning your back to the coyote
• Securely close garbage cans and compost bins, clean up ripe
fruit after it falls on the ground, and never leave pet food
outdoors
• Bring pets indoors overnight and when coyotes are nearby
• Report problematic/aggressive coyotes to Santa Clara County
